Season Outlook

 The Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish will under the direction of first year head coach Courtney Spitz. The Irish will return three position players and four pitcher from their 20-7 team a year ago. They will look for junior SS Will Duff (Vanderbilt) to be the team leader on and off the field, playing in the middle of the field defensively and hitting in the top of the lineup. Junior Zachary Cole will be a key two-way player. Cole will anchor down the outfield in center field and will be an impact arm on the mound. He could also see time at shortstop when needed. Three sophomores will have an impact on the team as well. Watch for Carter Bither to have a big impact and for Gage Gross to crack the lineup. Sophomore transfer Memphys Starks (Missouri State) will be a factor on the mound and in the order as a switch hitter. Watch for the Irish to crack the Missouri Class 4 top ranked teams and make a push in the state tournament this spring.
