The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 21 for A-B, and March 1 for 2A-6A. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2022 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.
We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

OUTLOOK
Coach Timmerman's squad reached the pinnacle of Oklahoma High School baseball capturing the State Title in the highest class of 6A. The Trojans used clutch pitching performances down the stretch and two big homeruns in extra innings to take home the hardware in 2021. Looking ahead to 2022, the Trojans have a couple of big holes to fill with the graduation of catcher Dylan Hammond as well as the utility man Parker Casselberry. The biggest shoes to fill will be that of SS/RHP Brooks Fowler who arguably had one of the best seasons across all levels in the State last year being a huge chunk of the offense as well as the ace of the staff. The good news for the Trojans is they have enough firepower and pitching depth to make another run at a State Championship in 2022. They have some of the best all-around athletes in the State to go along with multiple strike throwers on the mound. A lot of underclassmen got big experience especially down the stretch which should pay dividends for the program throughout the 2022 season and beyond. Coach Timmerman and the Trojan staff will look to continue to get the most out of their roster like they did at the end of the 2021 season and try to make it back to the final game of the year for another special season.
Impact PLAYERS
Fowler has a chance to have a big breakout season for the Trojans in 2022 after spending valuable time working up the middle last season. Fowler spent most of his time playing second base and would switch over to short stop when his brother took the mound and should take over the short stop position full time in 2022. Fowler is a steady defender who understands angles and has good arm strength across the diamond. Fowler also has sneaky pop in his wiry-athletic frame that could play up more in the future as he continues to add strength. The Trojans will also use him on the mound this Spring where his natural arm strength plays at a high level. Look for Fowler to take on an even bigger role in the offense this Spring and become a true impact player for the Trojans as they look to make another run at a State Title.
Primeaux came on late for the Trojans last year in his freshman season where he collected multiple big hits down the stretch. It is hard to imagine the Trojans winning the Championship last season without him stepping up in big situations and driving in crucial runs game after game. The left-handed hitter is one of the more physical bats in the 2024 class in OK and look for the power to play up at a higher level with the added experience he earned late in 2021. Primeaux also shows some promise on the mound and could provide a good chunk of innings for the Trojans in 2022. A full season of Primeaux getting at bats could be a potential game changer for their offense while he provides a steady presence in the middle of the order.
Wright spent the majority of the season last Spring working out of the leadoff spot and manning centerfield for the Trojans. Wright has the prototypical table-setting approach to his game where he works long at bats and makes himself a tough out. Wright has exceptional bat speed and quick hands working through the zone and has shown the ability to make consistent hard contact in the past. He is a fluid runner with a 6.88 60 and uses his speed to cover a lot of ground in the outfield to go along with enough arm strength to control some of the running game of opposing offenses. Look for Wright to continue to set the table for the middle of the order guys and create havoc on the bases for opposing defenses this Spring.
Rhylan Wright (6/1/21)
After suffering a unique injury that kept him off the field in 2021, McAuliff is fully healthy and ready to go this Spring. Jaxon has really good hand strength at the plate and shows the ability to drive the ball with potential future power. He shows good actions from behind the plate with quick feet and exchanges to control the running game and also shows solid lateral range with soft hands as an infielder. Look for McAuliff to play a big role in the Trojans lineup this Spring and be a big boost in filling some of the offensive holes created by graduating middle of the order guys.
Tibbett has a chance to make an immediate impact on the Trojans in 2022 especially with his defensive abilities from behind the plate. Tibbett uses his long and lanky 6-foot-3 and 170-pound frame to generate showcase pop times in the high 1.9's and low 2's with the throws having great carry and accuracy to the bag. He also shows strong blocking techniques and a feel for pitch framing. Offensively he hits with good leverage and shows strong rotation around the core through extension. Tibbett could also log a few innings on the mound in 2022 giving the Trojans more depth on their staff.
Blake Lamb provides the Trojans with athleticism that can be used all over the diamond. Lamb spent most of time last season in the corner outfield spots and can also provide solid defense at any of the infield spots as well. Lamb has a strong run tool that he uses to cover a lot of ground and shows some strength with the barrel with a loose swing that gets good extension. Lamb can also hop on the mound and work the fastball in the low to mid 80's with good spin rates which can provide even more depth to the Trojans staff. Wherever he is on the diamond, look for Lamb to have a bigger impact for the Trojans in 2022 as they look to make another deep run in May.
Jack James, P, 2022, Eastern Oklahoma State JC commit
Last year's State Title can't be won without the left-handed arm of Jack James and his masterful performance on the mound in the State Semi-Finals. The EOSC commit worked 6 and 2/3 allowing only one run and punching out 6 to send the Trojans to the Championship. James has a projectable build at 6-foot-3 and 188-pounds that he uses to work his fastball in the mid 80's and pounds the zone. James seems to have a disappearing fastball that gives hitters fits and will get a ton of swing and misses. He also uses his low 70's curveball with good depth to keep hitters off balance. Look for James to take the mantle as the ace of the staff this Spring and work against some of the State's top teams on Monday or Tuesday nights.

Ty Walls, 2023, INF/P
Ty Walls gained valuable experience on Varsity last year spending most of his time working in the two-hole in the lineup and splitting time between short stop and the outfield. Walls has great athleticism and shows good strength at contact at the plate with ability to drive the ball to all fields. Walls will also work some of the bullpen for the Trojans to help stretch their staff. Look for the Trojans to continue to tap into Walls' athleticism and find ways to utilize his skills all over the field.
