PBR OK Power 25: Week Six

Scott Hood
OK/MO/KS/ARK Assistant Scouting Director

After six week of action, we see some big movement in the Power 25 as we saw some big upsets as well as a couple of teams that have been close to the Power 25 all year and are just now breaking through.  We pour through the OSSAA website and follow box scores all across the state to put together this list with emphasis on record, strength of record, district wins, and our own scouting eyes.  All records shown come from the OSSAA website.

For the first time all season we have a new number one team in the State with the Redhawks from Union taking over the top spot.  What we know throughout the season is there isn't anyone separating themselves from the top of the pack and you could easily make a case for any of the top 6 on our list to take that number one spot.  The Redhawks have played one of the tougher schedules and have amassed an impressive 23 wins including wins over multiple teams in the Power 25.  Stillwater and Sand Springs see their stocks rise as they continue to impress and Bixby falls to number four on the list after an uncharacteristic 1-4 week.  Elk City continues to climb up in the Power 25 as they have a state leading 24 wins with an impressive roster to back up their record.

Two teams entering the Top 10 this week seeing big jumps in the rankings are both Enid and Choctaw after their impressive weeks.  This is Enid's second stint in the Top 10 after they got off to a hot start to the year and stumbled slightly before regaining their mojo with a big series sweep against Bixby this week.  Choctaw is another team that has been hot and cold throughout the year but find themselves at the number 10 spot as they are playing as good as anybody in the state right now.

The Mustang Broncos find their way into the Power 25 for the first time this season after getting off to a bit of a slower start but now starting to find their rhythm.  They have history of catching fire down the stretch as a program and you can start to see the results work more in their favor and boasting an impressive 9-1 record in 6A-2.  The Owls from Elgin continue to see their stock rise after an impressive week of sweeping previously ranked Duncan as they continue to add on to their 13 game winning streak.  Also making their debut to the list for the first time in 2023, the Bruins from Bartlesville make it in at number 25 after a big win against Stillwater adding to their increasingly impressive resume.
