OSSAA Power 25: Week Three

Scott Hood
Oklahoma State Director

As we wrap up Spring Break and get back to normal action, we take an updated look at the Power 25 after Week three of the season.  As the season progresses, we take the entire season's resume into account when putting together the Power 25 with emphasis on Power 25 wins, District game wins, strength of schedule, and strength of record.

Bixby takes over the top spot in this week's poll thanks to two impressive wins against a strong Millard West team from Nebraska and taking down previously undefeated Choctaw to go to 10-2.  It's a new look Spartans after their run to a 6A Title in 2023 and they have found new ways to generate runs to go along with one of the deeper pitching staffs in the state.  Edmond Memorial continues to climb in the poll after an impressive Spring Break that saw them pick up two wins against Power 25 opponents and included a no-hitter against a competitive Bishop Kelley team.  The Bulldogs have amassed an 8-2 record with their only losses coming in their first two games of the season against teams from the state of Texas.  Edmond North jumps up a couple spots after a 2-0 week that saw them win a tight one against number 16 Oktaha to amass an impressive 9-1 record to start the season.

Elgin continues their climb up to number 6 in this week's update after beginning the year 8-0 and winning their previous contest over Carl Albert 9-2 on the 15th.  Carl Albert drops a few spots to no fault of their own other than teams moving up after having impressive weeks.  The Titans will have a chance to improve their resume later this week with multiple strong 6A programs on the schedule.  Choctaw joins the top 10 after taking down number 17 Duncan and losing a back and forth affair with Bixby 3-2.  The Yellowjackets have real firepower at the top of the rotation and impressed in our looks at them this past week.

The biggest mover this week comes from Sapulpa as they had one of the stronger weeks and have really put together a nice resume.  The Chieftains went 4-1 on their Spring Break trip taking down some talented clubs and now have two wins against current Power 25 teams.  We also have three teams making their debut to the Power 25 with the Tigers from Broken Arrow checking in at number 19, Norman makes a strong push and lands at 23rd in the update, and 3A Title contender Lone Grove checks in at number 24 after an impressive 12-1 start to the season.
