UNDERCLASS AND UNCOMMITTED

There are a lot of uncommitted players in the 2023 class here in Ontario and lots of arms that you can project on and have big upside down the road. We have 4 of them below with notes and video for you to put on your follow list for the coming spring and need to make sure you know the right-handers below.

Matteo Pare RHP / 1B / St. Thomas of Villanova, ON / 2023

Report: Pare is a long and big,  6-foot-4 arm that is foing to expand and add size and strength over the next two years. The righty pitches with good  balance throughout the delivery with short action in the back while working with a three-pitch mix and the ability to pound the zone with all offerings. A member of the Future Games team, Pare has been in the upper 80’s while the CH is a little more advanced than the breaking ball at this time.  It’s a fairly easy delivery and the upside with Pare is very intriguing.

Ryan (RJ) James RHP / SS / John A MacDonald, ON / 2023

Report: James is someone who dominated the circuit at home and is blessed with a quick arm and feel to spin an overhand curveball that has late bite and depth to it. The FB has been in the upper 80’s but has mainly pitched in the 83-86 range, he commands the ball fairly well right now and will be someone who has a chance to make big strides with his stuff, delivery and body as we anticipate the 2022 season.

Derek Neufeld RHP / 2B / Cardinal Carter Catholic Secondary School , ON / 2023

Report: Neufeld was a standout for his heavy fastball at Windsor Scout Day in the 82-84 range while the frame is strong and the arm had some looseness and quickness out front. He’ll lose direction and run away from the release point at times, but the movements and stuff are there and he is an exciting arm that could make significant gains this winter. There is a feel for a curveball that may end up being a slider and the changeup is developing. Pitched with aggression and no nonsense demeanor that was noted in his inning of work this summer.

Julian Robertson RHP / NA, ON / 2023

Report: We saw Robertson multiple times this summer and the upside and projection is something that cannot go without being mentioned. It is long and lanky with arms that stretch out at 6-foot-5 while he has room to add a ton of weight and size to him being listed at 175-pounds. The arm actions is fluid and online and velocity is going to come down the road. A pick to click with us, Robertson is a 23’ that you’ll want to see throw in 2022.
