2014 Spotlight Watch: Drew Landis

Q and A with Drew Landis, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound, C/3B/RHP, Red Lion HS, Class of 2014

                                              Drew Landis

PBR:  What type of training did you do this past winter to prepare for the high school season?
Landis:  I trained at Power Train Sports Institute to improve my speed, strength and agility three days a week.  When I was not training at Power Train I worked to improve my hitting at a local indoor batting cage and trained with a professional Catcher trainer one day a week.

PBR:  Now that your sophomore season is coming to a close what do you plan to do over the next 18 months to catch the eyes of college scouts?
Landis:  I will  be playing with a 17U team that will be playing in Tournaments as well as Showcases.  I am also considering participating in some more individual showcases.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from last summer?
Landis:  This summer I will be playing for a 17U team named Under Armour Franchise.  Last summer  I played for the 15U Arena STARZ.  My favorite memory from last season was playing in Omaha, NE during the College World Series and watching the Championship Series games between SC and Florida.

PBR:  What position do you anticipate playing in college?
Landis:  I think my skill set will allow me to play Catcher at the next level but I can also play the left side of the infield and pitch.

PBR:  What is your current GPA?
Landis:  My current GPA is 4.39.

PBR:  What’s the biggest baseball event or tournament on your calendar in the coming months?
Landis:  Under Armour Franchise will be playing in the Perfect Game 2012 WWBA 2013 Grads or 17U National Championship at the East Cobb complex in Marietta, GA.  From what I understand this is one of the biggest tournaments in the Country.

PBR:  Who is the toughest player in your class that you have played against or with?
Landis:  I have been fortunate to play with several great players the past couple of years on the Arena STARZ.
