A total of 59 prospects from across the state took part on the final day of action yesterday in the 2019 Preseason All-State Showcase at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim.

Complete statistics for all players in attendance over the course of two days along with top measurable performances will be released tomorrow. Player evaluations by position will appear as well in articles over the coming week. For now here are some quick highlights from the Day Two.

Day Two Highlights (2/17/19) 

• 2020 RHP Travis Luensmann turned in the biggest performance of the day, literally. The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder came into the event ranked No. 22 in the PA Class of 2020 and should make a sizable jump in the next rankings update following an impressive performance that saw him sit in the upper 80s while touching 90 mph. While he lacks a second pitch that rivals his fastball, his two-seamer shows considerable sink and his changeup shows cut and is thrown with confidence.
• 2020 RHP Gabriel Mallo (Perkiomen Valley), also showed advanced velocity sitting 87-89 with above average effort. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound two-way prospect showcased a quick arm that also produced 92 mph arm strength from the outfield.
• A trio of 2018 PBR Junior Future Games Team Pennsylvania participants also impressed on the mound. 2022 LHP Chase Kriebel (Clarion Area) showcased an arsenal of arm angles and pitches with above average movement while sitting 80-84. 2022 LHP Nick Matson (Greater Nanticoke Area) also stood out with a clean, repeatable delivery and a feel for three pitches while sitting 80-82. The primary outfielder also showed above average barrel awareness at the plate with an 88 mph bat exit velocity. 2022 OF Caleb Sturtevant showcased the top foot speed of the day (6.70 60-yard dash) and 91 mph arm strength from the outfield.
• 2021 OF/RHP Nathan Polo (State College Area) emerged as a player to watch in the sophomore class. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound two-way prospect showcased a well-rounded skill set and took arguably the top round of batting practice on the day. The left-handed hitter showed the ability to stay in the hitting zone for an extended period of time with an ability to drive both gaps.
