Inside the Ranking: Top Five 2024 LHPs

Dan Cevette
President, NY/PA

In conjunction with our National and State Rankings being updated and released we will start to roll out more website content regarding the state rankings and a deeper dive into some of the players. Pennsylvania and New York are both talent rich states and there is no service out there today that is scouting, covering, and reporting on more players than the Prep Baseball Report.

TOP FIVE 2024 LHP'S IN PENNSYLVANIA

TAGUE DAVIS LHP MALVERN PREP, PA / 2024

My No. 1 LHP in the 2024 class (PA) is Tague Davis. Premier frame standing 6-foot-3, 2025 pounds and build like a linebacker, Davis offers both strength and speed. The Louisville commit shows a quick tempo to his delivery, long fluid arm-swing, low effort from a power 3/4 slot. FB peaked 91 (last summer) with feel for a three pitch mix, especially his mid 70's slider (2600 rpms). One the highest ceilings of any player in the 2024 class, Davis will be a fun to watch over the next two years.

OWEN YARUSSI LHP / OF / SENECA VALLEY, PA / 2024

No. 2 on my list of Top FIVE LHP's in the 2024 PA class is Owen Yarussi. Smooth operator on the mound, Yarussi works with a confident three-pitch mix. Repeatable delivery, fluid tempo, clean arm-swing, upper 80's FB from a high 3/4 slot. The Auburn commitment's ceiling is very lofty. Excited to watch his development.

Nick Diehl LHP / 1B / Unionville , PA / 2024

One of my favorites in the '24 class is LHP Nick Diehl, who also comes in as my No. 3 LHP in the PA 2024 class. Imposing frame standing 6-foot-7, 230-pounds with feel for his fast paced delivery. Diehl works with tempo, a medium length arm-swing, plenty of hand-speed out in front from a 3/4 slot. Upper 80's FB this summer with feel for a 2/7 shape breaker. Recent Tulane commitment. I'm projecting some impressive gains over his next 3/4 years of development with a huge ceiling form the mound. Definitely a name to keep tabs on.

BRAYDEN GREGG LHP / OF / AVON GROVE, PA / 2024

Coming in at my No. 4 LHP in the 2024 class is Brayden Gregg. Lean frame standing 5-foot-10, 150-pounds with more size gains expected. I really love the loose whippy arm-action from that mid power slot. Fastball has some late life and has already been up into the high 80's with arm-side run. Gregg shows tremendous hand-speed feel for an above average change-up. The West Virginia commitment has just started to scratch the surface of his development.

LOGAN HARELSON LHP / 1B / HEMPFIELD , PA / 2024

My No. 5 LHP in the 2024 PA Class is Logan Harelson. The Eastern, PA native stands 6-foot-4, 180-pounds with a frame able to hold more weight. Compact delivery that repeats, deep and full arm-swing, high 3/4 slot, FB has reached the upper 80's this fall and I expect that number to keep climbing. At times he shows an above average breaking ball in the mid 70's. The frame is intriguing and should he add 10 pounds of muscle this off season, look for Harelson to have an explosive year.
