More Impressive Pennsylvania Performances at the WWBA National Championships



The WWBA 17U National Championships are heading into the playoff rounds and a number of Pennsylvania players have had impressive performances over the last two days.

Ian Stiffler (Somerset), the No. 43 ranked player in the PBR Pennsylvania Class of 2013, topped out at 91mph on his fast ball in a Flood City Elite 4-3 loss.

Billy Nelson (North Pocono), the No. 46 ranked player in the Class of 2013, topped out at 88mph in his pitching outing against the Long Island Prospects.

Adam Bleday (Titusville), the No. 6 ranked player in the Class of 2013, pitched four shutout innings for the Indiana Prospects. His fast ball topped out at 87mph as he gave up no hits and struck out 6-of-12 batters.

Brett Hileman (Hollidaysburg), the No.  4 ranked player in the Class of 2013, had two RBI for the Flood City Elite in a 12-5 win. Seth Wagner (Mifflin County), the No. 36 ranked player in the Class of 2013, sat in the mid 80’s giving up no earned runs in the game. The 6-foot-7 lefty had excellent command of his change-up helping him to strike out nine batters in his outing.

Jake Pribanic (Norwin) and Eli Flynn (Cathedral Prep), the No.14 and the No. 25 ranked players in the Class of 2013 respectively, each had two hits in the Evoshield Canes M-A 2013's victory over the Marucci Elite 16s.

Max Ponzurick (Greensburg Salem), the No. 6 ranked player in the Class of 2014, hit his third homerun of the tournament in an Evoshield Canes M-A 17U Prospects loss to the St. Louis Gamers 17U.

Shaun Corso (Hempfield) and Parker Bean (South Western), the No. 6 and No. 11 ranked players in the Class of 2013 respectively, both had solid days for the Mid-Atlantic Rookies. Corso went 1-for-2 with two runs scored. Bean gave up one hit in his time on the mound topping out at 88mph.

In the WWBA 15U National Championships in Florida, Jamie Switalski (Pine Richland), the No. 31 ranked player in the Class of 2014, has helped lead his Columbus Sharks team to the No. 1 seed going into the playoff rounds.
