PA 2025 Rankings Update

Ted Williams
VP of Content & Scouting

The summer has concluded and school has officially started, which means it's time for our staff to sit down for a modest pre-fall update to the 2025 class rankings. The depth of quality arms coming out of PA from year-to-year is nothing short of impressive, headlined by RHP Christian Lucarelli (Riverside) & RHP Danny Nelson (Hershey).

Some shuffling occurred inside the Top-10, as fireballer RHP Evan Jones (Methacton) joined the Top-5 with his 94MPH FB. SS Nolan Behm (Central Bucks East), a top bat in the state, pushed upwards to the 6th overall spot. A pair of uncommitted names-to-know jumped onto the board in RHP Isaiah Shayter (Elizabethtown) at #9 and SS Andrew Pellicciotta (Malvern Prep) at #10.

Included below is a full list of the 250 ranked, biggest risers in the class, and an updated "players to watch."

RISERS

Evan Jones RHP / OF / Methacton, PA / 2025

Equipped with an obvious starter’s build at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds, Jones creates loose, garden-hose whip from a H ¾ slot. The projectable righty moves the ball across the arsenal with velocity starting to trend, now at T94MPH FB and 81-83MPH SL (2800 rpms). This is a slam-dunk weekend arm at the next level with no ceiling in sight.

Uncommitted

Nolan Behm SS / 3B / Central Bucks East, PA / 2025

After one of the better HS season in the state regardless of class, Behm was invited to the Prep Baseball Report Future Games in Georgia, where he posted a 6.84 60YD, 85MPH INF arm, and 93MPH EV. The body keeps adding useful size, listed at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds, as the arms work short-to-long through the zone forever. An easy pick-to-click when the strength comes.

Uncommitted

Ryan Mielnicki OF / 3B / Pine Richland , PA / 2025

Following the mold of other Western PA breakouts, Mielnicki gets the top of the barrel to max speed in an instant. The RH hitter generates natural loft all over the field for a perfect XBH approach at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. Though we've seen him consistently around the upper-90's EV in event, he notched a T107MPH last week, this after a big summer with near double-digit home runs.

Uncommitted

Michael Hanz RHP / 1B / Freeport , PA / 2025

When talking "pitchability," Hanz simply blew the doors off of the WPIAL Scout Day, commanding both corners at 85-86MPH with high spin everything. Mixed a sharp 73-74MPH CB on a 12/6 tilt and plus 78-79MPH CH that faded hard away from LH batters. At a lean 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, there's much more to come, and a chance to reach another gear.

West Virginia commit

Brady Thompson OF / 3B / Garnet Valley, PA / 2025

Brady Thompson has a chance to be the next power-hitting lefty from the keystone state, controlling a deliberate forward move with huge raw pull-side juice. It's a well-grounded approach that produces easy acceleration for a mid-90's EV. One of the more successful hitters on the tournament scene for Ascent, the upper-half is only getting refined as he ages.

TOP UNCOMMITTED

Dylan Firmstone RHP / SS / Hempfield Area, PA / 2025

A polished strikeout artist at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds, Firmstone’s long levers act deceptively on an advanced 74-76MPH CB. There’s balance down the slope from a ¾ slot, getting whiffs on both an 84-86MPH FB and expanded breaker 8-10 inches off the plate; starter profile.

Kaden Schoenly 1B / LHP / Cumberland Valley, PA / 2025

Ultra-athletic in an XL 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame, there’s two-way upside as a L/L. We saw Schoenly hammer FB’s with an open landing and fluid hips, up to a T96MPH EV. The southpaw also has been clocked pitching at 87MPH from a raw delivery; multiple tools to build on.

Jibreel Long RHP / Central Dauphin East , PA / 2025

It’s hard to argue against the long, elastic arm-talent at 6-foot, 180-pounds with his best baseball ahead. When considering the velo increase (T91MPH recently) and feel for a wipeout mid-70’s splitter, the sky is the limit. There’s still room to improve an 11/5, 70-72MPH CB for Ks.

Mason Metz C / 3B / Avonworth , PA / 2025

Another major force in the WPIAL, Metz slashed .419/.560/.548 and homered vs. top-ranked RHP Miguel Hugas of Shaler late last HS season. Not much wasted space throughout the LH swing, matching plane for a mid-90’s EV with + barrel-awareness. Will find a home at a corner spot eventually.

Chase Ecker OF / RHP / Malvern Prep, PA / 2025

2nd in bat-speed (85MPH) at the PA State Games was .. 5-foot-10, 170-pound Chase Ecker, who simply finds the most out of his twitchy frame. A 6.58 runner with consistent in-game performances, the centerfielder is a bat-to-follow at the top of the order. Good chance to hear this name a few times during the spring.
