Unsigned Senior Spotlight: RHP Luke Lingle

Luke Lingle is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound RHP who pitches for Lower Dauphin HS. Lingle tops out at 78mph with his fastball, but shows good command of a 69mph changeup, 62mph curveball and a 68mph cutter. His curveball has a tight 12/6 rotation and the cutter is a plus pitch.

Below, Lingle discusses his college plans with Prep Baseball Report.

             Lingle

PBR:  Where are you in the process of deciding on a college?
Lingle: I haven’t made a decision yet, I am still looking and weighing my options.

PBR:  What schools are you currently considering?
Lingle: I am looking at schools that have an engineering program where there would also be an opportunity to play baseball.

PBR:  Is distance from home a factor in your decision?
Lingle: No, distance from home is not a factor.

PBR:  Where have college coaches been able to see you?
Lingle: I participated in our American Legion All-Star event.  I have done a few individual showcases as well as a few team showcases.  I also will be participating in the PA Top Prospect games at Metro Bank Park on October 6 and 7 run by Prep Baseball Report.

PBR:  What position do you anticipate playing in college?
Lingle: I anticipate being a pitcher at the college level.

PBR:  What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team?
Lingle: I keep a cool head and don't not get rattled easily.  I make my pitches, throw strikes and let the defense take care of the rest.  I believe that I help the team by not letting my emotions get too high or too low.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?
Lingle: I play for the Hummelstown Legion Post 265, and I play for Hampton Travel.  My most memorable game would be getting the start in our first Regional Playoff game against Ephrata.  I threw eight innings, 90 pitches, 5 hits, no earned runs, and we got the win.

PBR:  What is your current GPA?
Lingle: My non-weighted GPA is a 3.2 on a 4.0 scale

PBR:  How has Prep Baseball Report aided you in the process of choosing a college?
Lingle: The coaches have been extremely helpful at the PBR events in giving me insight on many different colleges.  PBR has provided me events to showcase my talents and the ability to possibly reach my goals.
