QUICK HITS

BC ATHLETICS SCOUT DAY

Nick Romango: Super twitchy athlete listed at 5 foot 11 and 180 pounds that stood out in all areas during our event. Posted third overall fastest 60-yard dash with a time of 6.88 seconds where he showed really smooth-running actions. In the outfield, made clean transitions with his hips to both his glove side and forehand where he covered ground, while looking the part with multiple low 90 mph coming into home while popping a 94 mph on a low line throw that held plane and would have hit his cutoff man. On the bump, made repeatable releases with all pitches that showed true shape differential and ability in the mid 80’s. At the plate, presents a left-handed swing that stays truly up the middle with gap-to-gap boundaries. Started to pull more balls in his third round, which really showed his body/barrel control. Really explosive athlete that has real potential with multiple low 90’s exit velocities.

Isaiah Whited: Physical kid that really shows pop and D1 level talent. 6 foot 2 and 195. Shows athletic ability for a 1B with a 7.4 sixty-yard dash with potential to continue growing as an athlete. Showed bat to ball skills with quality barrel control as he posted a 96 mph exit velocity during BP, while maintaining an on average exit velo in the 90-mph range, which you really don't see a lot of, especially spanned out over 15-20 swings. Carried a few balls over the fence, while having the best all-around batting practice.

Cade Batchelor: Just a really easy swing from a well-rounded in the former PBRFG'22 player Batchelor. Really stood out in multiple facets during the event. 60, BP, Infield, he definitely did not look like someone that still should be uncommitted at this point in his development. Clocked a 6.82 in the running portion with extremely quick legs. Athletic ability is present with a decently built frame at 6 foot 1 and 185 pounds that should be able to continue adding size. Had a really great round of BP showing the ability to lift on plane with quick hands and torso rotation. Average EV on Trackman came in just right over 90 mph with mid 90’s mph present on his line drive shots. Has some current uppercut in his swing but has quality barrel control to go with exceptionally quick hands that should have zero issues facing 90 mph plus on the bump. Looking to have a big senior season and will be a worthy late addition to any class looking for a clean fielding SS that can hit.

Miles Johnson: Well-built player in the 2024 class that has a strong frame with present juice at the plate. Had a few batted balls during BP leave the yard with mid 90 mph exit velo’s to pull side. Good ranging outfielder with decent speed in the 7.1 second range while showing arm strength in the mid 80’s from the outfield. Athletic to continue to gain in size without sacrificing much ability. Quality RHH bat that profiles as a corner outfielder.

Riley Mahan: + frame coming in at 6 foot 4 and 215 pounds with present arm strength in the outfield at 85 mph from a clean short arm action that made accurate on-target throws. RHH with a high FB% that will be able to lift out of the park. 95 mph exit velocity from a simple swing that could work do fine tune bat/barrel path but current potential is clearly present and someone who should be able to find a home this upcoming spring during his senior season.
