Murfreesboro Open: Pitcher & Catcher Reports

PBR Tennessee Staff

MURFREESBORO, TN - The Murfreesboro Open was held on Tuesday, July 11th at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, TN. This event was an open event that consisted of players from the 2024-2027 classes from Volunteer state. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at the scouting reports gathered from the Murfreesboro Open.

Positional Profile: RHP/SS
Body: 6-1, 195-pounds. Thicker frame with present muscle mass with some fleshiness. Can hold wait with more muscle mass added.
Delivery: Clean and fluid initial body mechanics when working out of the windup. Over the top with his glove with ball in hand to allow momentum to build and synch up his leg lift and hand break.
Arm Action: RH. Shorter and compact arm slot with minimal length and connected hand to ear action. Shows ability to repeat in the windup and stretch.
FB: T79, 76-79 mph. Shows some present life to the heater with the ability to throw strikes and attack the zone. Showcased the ability to work the outer half of the plate to righties. T2068, 1936 average rpm.
CB: 65-65 mph. 1/7 spin action with some sweep to the pitch. Acts like more of a sweeper and could actually be a better offering as he gains velocity with the pitch. T1928, 1902 average rpm.
SL: 66-68 mph. Slider and curveball are more of a blended hybrid at this point and may be better suited to stratch one for the better offering. Slider shows a little more velocity than curveball to go along with extra spin. Loses some sweep as he actually gains some hop to carry the pitch plane through the zone. T2029, 2001 average rpm.
