The 2022 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our preseason Top 10 in each TSSAA classification and the preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Our team will be providing boots on the ground coverage, scouting games and highlighting the Volunteer State's talent. This season we will be releasing players of the week, updating our classification rankings, and the Power 25. Feel free to give us a follow on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on all the latest baseball news.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook
The Dragons had a young club in 2021, leading to them taking some lumps in highly competitive 3A District 3. They finished second to last in the regular season, and were bounced in the opening round of the district tourney. However, they’re a year older and return 8 starters positionally and several key arms as they look to be more competitive in the new district four. They return a pair of impact seniors, who received all-district honors, with speedy CF Connor Moody (Uncommitted) and RHP/UTL Blake Lowe. The pair will look to lead the squad and garner attention from some college recruiters as the year unfolds. Jr. MINF Ethan Tinker has been a staple for the Dragons, playing every varsity game and will serve as the leadoff man in 2022. A pair of fresh faces will plug into the core group with transfer MINF Eli Ellis (2023) and C Sam Raley (2025). Ellis will help fill roles up the middle defensively, and Raley will be an immediate impact behind the dish, handling the pitchers and solidifying the middle. Sophomores Harrison Shelton (LHP/OF) and Garrett Lee (1B) return and look to be solid contributors after garnering varsity time last season.

The Dragons remain in 3A for 2022, and will have a much more friendly district, featuring two familiar foes in Anderson County and Knoxville Halls plus Scott HS moving up from 2A. It’s much more compact than their previous district plus no more battling it out with Powell or Knoxville Central. It’s a wide open league as all four clubs finished below .500 in 2021, but Rob Stacy likes his squad and believes they’ll put together a much better showing in 2022.
