The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

Team Outlook:

The Panthers turned in a solid season as they were the odd man out in the very competitive district 15. They lost to Houston in the district tourney to finish third with a record of 21-17. They return quality depth on the mound and should be a strong defensive team, but will have to replace some offensive production. ‘24 SS Tylan Graves is a strong defender up the middle and has continued to improve with the bat. ‘24 C/INF Wyatt Parrish has been in the infield the last two years, but he’ll move back to his natural position behind the plate. ‘23 OF Aidan Hackett expects to be the top production bat in the Panther lineup. ‘23 RHP Miles Harper Jr (Wallace St Hanceville) and ‘23 RHP Parker Moore are a pair of experienced arms that will throw significant innings on the frontend of the rotation. ‘24 LHP Reese Ellison came on strong last year and will play a big role as well on the bump. ‘23 RHP Ethan Wilson and ‘23 LHP Caleb Myers will provide quality depth while leaning on Wilson in tight spots out of the bullpen. ‘23 C/INF Khalil Smith will pair with Parrish behind the dish and provide depth on the infield. ‘24 INF Jason Dunn transferred in and will be a plug n play option on the infield. ‘24 OF Parker Jackson will bring some speed to the lineup and will man centerfield as well. ‘25 UTL Luke Lloyd will play all over the field and is a key power bat in the meat of the order. Couple underclassmen to keep eyes on: ‘25 RHP Paul Brignole, ‘25 OF/RHP Brody Woodall, and ‘26 LHP Hayden Spangenberg. Panthers will be a competitive bunch and will be battle tested in district 15 as they’ll look to play their best ball down the stretch to advance deeper in the postseason.
