The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Bobcats got off to a slow start last year, but played much better in the second half. They were in the mix for district three. They defeated Oneida in the district tournament but dropped back to back games to come up one game short of advancing to region play. This season they’ll return an athletic bunch and hope to have some guys develop throughout the season. ‘24 SS/RHP Dakota Adkins will play a key role up the middle and on the mound while leading this bunch. There are high expectations for ‘25 UTL/RHP Eli Brummett, who got significant time as a freshman last season and can play all over the field with a high baseball IQ. Looking ahead to this Spring, Coalfield will be a heavy favorite within the district and the other region spot is expected to be a battle between Oneida and Oliver Springs. The two clubs split the season series last year and can expect much of the same as they’re hopeful to come out on top to dance deeper into the postseason.
