Tennessee Diamond Notes: Week 2

The Tennessee Diamond Notes is a 2024 content piece that will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.

For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Tennessee Diamond Notes. 

TENNESSEE DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 2

Korbin Reynolds C / SS / Clarksville , TN / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 5 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 154 / POS: 15 In a 3-2 win over Columbia Central Korbin threw out 2 runners attempting to steal second and back picked another runner at first base. For the 2nd week of the season, Reynolds slashed .529 Avg; .556 OBP; 1.203 OPS; .647 SLG; 9 Hits; 1 Triple; 3 RBI; while through 14 GP; the Vanderbilt committ is hitting at a .500 Avg; with 19 Hits; 11 RBI; 3 BB; 6 HBP.

Stryder Jones RHP / Hardin County, TN / 2024 Jones goes complete game agaisnt a really strong 2A team in Loretto. For the week, he would finsih with 9IP, 5H, 1R, 2BB, 16K's.

Ty Barnett LHP / OF / McMinn County, TN / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 52 / POS: 6 Barnett would go back to back games for McMinn County where he pitched a complete game no-hitter with 14 K's and a 1 innings 3K save in game 2.

Brody Winemiller 1B / OF / Collierville, TN / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 29 / POS: 3 The former PBRFG23 participant went 5-9 with 2 HR’s & 5 RBI for a loaded Collierville team in the middle heart of their lineup.

Tegan Begley CF / C / Dobyns Bennet, TN / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 38 / POS: 2 Begley would go 9/13 on the week with a .692 Avg, with 4 2B's, 8 Runs, 6 RBI's, 4 BB's, 2 SB's and 13 TB's, while also pitching 1 innings with 0 H's, 0 R's and 2 K's. He had BIG games in all 4 games they played with 0 K's at the plate. On the season he is slashing at an insane clip- .538, .618 OBP, 1.502 OPS, SLG .885, 6 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 11 RBI, 6 SB.

Christian Doty SS / OF / Lausanne Collegiate, TN / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 50 / POS: 15 Doty, our Prep Baseball TN #1 player in the 2026 class would go 7-12(.583) on the week with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 HRs, 9 RBIs.

Phinn Waters LHP / OF / Briarcrest, TN / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 36 / POS: 6 Waters would go 6 innings, 2H, 0 R, 11K’s, 1 Win Vs Dyer County at USA Stadium.

Brady Scott LHP / 1B / Sevier County, TN / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 177 / POS: 20 In 3 games (due to rainouts on Friday/Saturday), Brady went 4/9 at the plate with 1 HR and 2 RBI. On the mound, he pitched a complete game 7 innings for the win, with 2 hits, 1 ER, 2 BB, 15 K's.

Nathan Stewart 2B / RHP / Central Magnet High School, TN / 2024 On the mound this past week, Stewart go 2-0 in a total of 13 innings, giving up 1 run with 1 walk and 22 strikeouts giving up only 6 hits allowed. He would also hit (.462) 6 for 13 with 5 runs and 5 stolen bases.

Miller Hornsby LHP / OF / South Side , TN / 2026 He would go complete game against Camden giving up 5 H's with only 1 BB and 10 K's. Would also have a walk off hit versus Union City.

Breyer Williams RHP / RHP / East Robertson, TN / 2025 Williams would go 8-11 (.727) in 4 games, with a .900 OBP, 3 doubles, 1 HR on the week.

Levi Heidel OF / RHP / Coalfield , TN / 2025 Heidel would go 9-13, with 2 triples, and 10 RBI's on the week.

Carter Kelley OF / LHP / Giles County , TN / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 83 / POS: 17 The Georgia Bulldog signee would slash .438 AVG, 471 OBP, with 2 3B's, 2 HR's, 7 RBI's, and 8 R's.

Austin Kilpatrick C / RHP / Giles County , TN / 2024 Kilpatrick would hit .600 AVG, .750 OBP, 2B, HR, 5 RBI's, 8 R's on the week.
