The 2023 high school baseball season is underway with practice having started and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Austin at the State Tournament, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and eventually releasing our preseason Top 30 teams in the state.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week and updating the Top 30 teams in the state.
*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:
The 2022 Boyd team had a great regular season and then a tough 2nd round exit in the playoffs. They lost 2 hard fought games 2-1 to Pottsboro, but Coach McIntire and his staff return a lot of quality pieces and look to make a deep run into this years playoffs.
On the mound, Boyd returns their top 2 arms. District MVP and 2nd Team All State recipient, Jr. Braden McIntire returns to build off a dominate Sophomore Season. Joining him is district pitcher of the year and HM All State recipient, Eric Rogers. They won a combined 17 games and had a collective ERA under 1. Soph. RHP Smith Washington also returns after earning 2nd team AD honors as a freshman. They return their 5 other top arms and have the depth for any position they may get put into this year.
Offensively, the Yellowjackets will be loaded from top to bottom. They are led by McIntire and Rogers. Both of them batted over .330 as sophomores last year. Sr. 3B Aidan Le Masters provides some juice in the lineup after a Jr. year that saw him earn 2nd team AD honors after belting 4 HR'S. Seniors Houston McIntire and Case Ferguson also provide experience and depth to the lineup. They both took home 2nd team AD honors last season. Aaron McGilvery and Jake Thomas also provide length to the lineup as they had good seasons last year and have are now upper classmen. And look for a big jump from Soph. Jax Heid, who held his own as a freshman and took home All District Honors.
Coach McIntire and his staff have a lot of talent, and are a year older. You never know who you will get matched up with in the playoffs, but regardless of who Boyd plays, I expect them to be the favorite more times than not this coming season.
