Our staff is working to become the #1 news source for Prep Baseball across the state of Texas. Remember to follow us on twitter (@PBR_Texas) and reach out to us with any news, commitments, or your upcoming workout and game schedule. We are hosting four EVENTS this winter to allow players the opportunity to be evaluated by our staff with video, scouting reports and verified statistics.

Since the launch of Prep Baseball Report Texas, our staff has been all over the state covering games and evaluating players. We recently released our first ranking with the 2018 class. This past weekend our staff was in Tomball to cover the College Prospects Showcase Tournament. Here are some of the top senior pitchers from this past weekend.

Tyler Miller, RHP, Summer Creek HS, 2017 (Hunter Pence - Crew)
6-foot-7, 200-pound, lean frame. Works from a high-¾ slot with good arm action. The fastball ranged from 82-85 mph. Throws his changeup in any count with good arm speed, shows depth and arm side fade at 75 mph. With the projectable frame and present feel for two pitches, this is an uncommitted senior that shows tremendous upside at the next level.

Jeff Rotz, RHP, Foster HS, 2017 (Fort Bend Texans Red)
5-foot-11, 172-pound athletic frame. Threw a complete game on a chilly Saturday night. Works from a high-3/4 slot with a short arm circle. Smooth Dlvry, lands closed. Velo started out 81-84 mph, touched 85 once. He spun his curveball at 66 mph. Was able to command the zone with his fastball getting ahead early in counts and occasionally mix in his curveball with two strikes.

Mattthew Swick, RHP, Cy-Woods HS, 2017 (Premier Baseball Futures - Nixon)
6-foot-2, 200-pound, strong frame. Works from a high-¾ slot with some effort. His fastball ranged from 80-85 mph, topping out once at 85 mph. He was able to mix his slider for a strike at 72 mph.

Matt Sandoval, RHP, BelleVille HS, 2017 (Hunter Pence - Allen)
Listed at 5-foot-10, 185-pounds. Works from a high-¾ slot with long arm action. Good energy in the delivery with aggressive movements down the mound. Fastball was 80-84 mph in the first inning and seemed to get on top of hitters. Curveball was 68 mph. Showed good command and feel for both pitches.

Tyler Hollingsworth, RHP, Woodville HS, 2017 (Banditos)
6-foot-1, 190-pound frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot, long reach down out of the glove the gets his hand back on top at release. His ball has some depth to it when he gets to extension showing arm-side run. Fastball velocity in the first inning was 84-86 mph, touching 87 once. He settled in for the rest of the game at 80-84 mph. He was able to change speeds with his changeup at 73 mph. His slider was 72 mph with loose spin, effective at times and got a little better in his last inning of work.

Brian Dawson, RHP, Dickinson HS, 2017 (Banditos)
Alvin College recruit. Approximately 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame. Works from a submarine arm slot, "knuckle-scraper". The different look gave hitters fits all weekend. Fastball ranged from 76-79 and produced a lot of ground balls from right-handed hitters. The slider has a sit-up, sweeper type action and is a nice change of speeds, keeping hitters off balance and getting weak swings.
