DALLAS, T.X. - On Wednesday, our staff was able to take look at few highly talented JUCO prospects for the McLennan Highlanders in their scrimmage against the DFW Blue Jays Scout Team at Dallas Baptist University. Today we offer a quick look at few arms that impressed and a few notable performances and prospects to watch for the Highlanders

ARMS

Riggs Threadgill RHP / Fredericksburg, TX / So.

Threadgill has a strong, durable frame at 6-foot-4, 228-pounds. A power right-handed JUCO arm that was listed as one of the top best available junior college prospects. The right-hander throws from a ¾ arm slot with a long, quick arm swing. His fastball worked 91-94 with slight sinking action, paired with a workable breaking ball with power CB type shape at 79-81.

Logan Henderson RHP/ katy, TX / Fr.

An athletic and compact frame at 5-foot-11, 191-pounds, Henderson has a lot to like with his simple and repeatable yet explosive actions. Displayed a lively fastball at 91-93 T94 from a ¾ slot, with good ride through the zone playing up. The curveball played well off the FB at 77-80 with 11/5 shape with sharp late action. Henderson put together a really solid showing in his two innings of work and there is a lot to like about this freshman arm.

Will Carsten RHP / san antonio , TX / Fr.

A big-frame with long limbs at 6-foot-7, 220 pounds. Carsten works from ¾ arm slot with a long arm swing and smooth delivery. His fastball worked 90-92 with tilt, creating tough angles on hitters and creating a lot of weak contact. The breaking ball was effective when right at 78-80 with 11/5 shape with late action resulting in a few uncomfortable swings and takes. His changeup was 84 comes in as his third pitch.

Landry Wideman RHP / San antonio, TX / rfr.

Wideman was another power-armed righthander rolling out of the pen for the Highlanders. Wideman has an XL build at 6-foot-5, 226-pounds. Works from a high ¾ arm slot with a short quick arm stroke and some effort in the delivery. Pounded the strike zone with overpowering fastball at 91-94 T95. Breaking ball has short late action at 83-86. CH was 85-87.

Logan Freeman LHP / Bryan, TX / fr.

A 6-foot-3, 190-pounds Freeman has a wiry, long-limbed frame. Works from an over-the-top arm slot, creating tilt on the FB at 90-92 that occasionally would cut. Big Curveball  at 77-78 mph that shows promise. Showed feel for the CH at 81 mph. Really competed in the zone in his innings of work. Chance to develop into a high-ceiling arm.
