Fort Bend Travis vs. Ridge Point

MISSOURI CITY, TX - The Ridge Point Panthers hosted the Fort Bend Travis Tigers on Friday in a District 20-6A matchup.
2020 RHP Hayde Key (No. 44 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings and No. 307 in 2020 PBR overall rankings, committed to Texas Tech) got the start for Ridge Point and was dominant all night. He mixed his fastball and curveball well, allowing no runs on two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Key was also 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate.
Offensively, Ridge Point was led by 2019 OF Matthew Thompson was 2-for-3 with two RBI, including his two-run single to cap off the four-run 3rd inning. Key and 2019 OF Gabe Colaianni (No. 161 in 2019 PBR Texas rankings, committed to Northwestern State) both had two hits as well.
2019 RHP Trey Faltine (No. 16 in the 2019 PBR Texas rankings and No. 126 in the 2019 PBR overall rankings, committed to Texas) was on the bump for Travis. He had one tough inning in the 4th allowing four runs, one earned. Outside of that inning, he mixed his pitches well and commanded both sides of the plate. He finished the game going five innings allowing eight hits and four walks with seven strikeouts.
Travis’ two hits on the night came from 2019 1B Thomas Roldan and 2020 SS Mason Brock.

Hayde Key, RHP, Ridge Point, 2020
Texas Tech commit. Estimated 5-foot-11, 170-pound athletic frame with a well built lower half. The right-hander throws from a high ¾ slot with a quick, whippy arm swing. His fastball was 87-89 mph the entire night, commanding it high and low and inducing plenty of ground balls low in the zone. He threw a big curveball that was 71-72 mph with 11-5 action and also threw a slider that was 76-77 with 10-4 action, getting swings and misses with both pitches.
