Semler's Prospects to Follow

Over the course of the season, North Texas Scouting Director, Max Semler, will be out scouting some of the top draft prospects in the Lone Star State. Semler has served as an area scout for four major league teams spanning the last 30 years and now joins the Prep Baseball Texas Staff. Today, we look at some of Semler's reports on the prospects to follow that he has seen so far this season

Ethan Baiotto RHP / Southlake Carroll Senior High, TX / 2025High Follow 2025 Strengths: Good physical build now with frame for more strength development, Effective FB. FB 89-93, works 90-91 with tail/sink action, plus life. CB 75-78 with quality finish. Slider shows spin with blended action. CB ahead of slider at this time. Strike thrower. Attacks zone. Weaknesses: Did not throw change. Spin-off finish, finish direction can be more online. Summation: High follow based on this outing. Stuff has taken jump since last fall. Solid deliver and arm action. Repeats. Good build for adding strength. Athleticism present. 3 quality pitches, strike thrower. FB plays up with life and command of pitch. Competed well. Will be scouted in 2025 |
Joshua Viars SS / C / Prosper Walnut Grove, TX / 2026High follow for 2026 Strengths: Athleticism with quick twitch present. Good build/frame for adding strength in future. Good approach to hit with tick better than avg bat speed for his age. Pull side power. Plus runner with quickness. Defensively actions present, fringe avg arm now. Plus arm in future. Weaknesses: Patience at the plate Summation: High for 2026. He will get stronger, athleticism present. Shows ability to impact baseball now to pull side. Plus runner. Defensively can stay in the middle. Has caught in the past, has a chance behind the plate if he wants to catch. Good make up, plays hard. |
