Week 5 Diamond Notes

The Texas Diamond Notes will focus on highlighting some of the top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday/Wednesday of the high school season that had impressive weeks during their team's games. Special thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.
+ Tyler Hughes, RHP/3B, (Frisco Centennial, 2024):
Went nine innings against Walnut Grove:
9 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 0 R, 16 K as a pitcher on the week; 6-for-14, .429/.500/.500 4 RBI, 4 R, 2 BB as a hitter on the week. (3-1 34 IP, 4 ER, 5 BB, 34 K, .824 ERA as a pitcher on the season; .382/.462/.582 4 2B, 1 HR, 10 RBI on the season as a hitter)
+ Kaden McCoy, RHP, (Atascocita, 2024; Northwestern State commit):
Complete Game Shutout: W, 7 IP, CG Shutout, 2 H, 14 K. (36 K on the season)
+ Ty Higginbotham, LHP/OF, (Atascocita, 2026):
Had a strong series vs. Beaumont Westbrook with his arm and his bat: W, 7 IP, CG, 2 H, 1 R, 9 K on the week. (30 K on the season); 3-for-6, 2 RBI, R, SB on the week as a hitter.
+ Braydon Wisener, RHP/OF, (Huffman-Hargrave, 2026):
4-0 vs Huffman-Hargrave’s top opponents so far: 6.2 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 ER, 8 K. (4-0, 27.2 IP, 34K, 7 BB, 15 H, 0.759 ERA, .167 BAA on the season)

+ Jeshuah Naut, RHP, (Life School Waxahachie, 2024):
2 Saves, 4.2 IP, 9 K, 0.00 ERA, 1 H in two district games.
+ Trenton Flores, C/RHP, (Clear Brook, 2025):
Complete Game: 7 IP, 4H, 1 BB, 1 ER, 8 K. (Hitting .309 at the plate on the season)
+ Ryan Benavides, RHP, (Clear Brook, 2026):
CG Shutout vs. Brazoswood: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 0 ER, 5 K on the week. (34.1 IP, 3-0, 10 BB, 32 K, 0.40 ERA on the season)
+ Graham Hardin, RHP, (Coronado, 2027):
Hardin threw 101 pitches in the complete game shutout, and only allowed 1 of the 3 runners that reached base, get to second: CG SO, 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K. (Hardin is 2-0 on the season with a 2.21 ERA while holding opposing hitters to a .208 batting average.)
+ Jared Owens, P, (Coronado, 2024):
Jared Owens got the win against our cross-town rivals, Lubbock Monterey. He scattered 3 hits and 2 walks, while limiting the damage that a couple of misplayed balls could have provided, while striking out 11: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 11 K. (On the season he is 2-0 with 43 K and an ERA of 2.72 while holding opponents to a .218 batting average)
+ Jabin Moore, 2B, (Heath, 2024):
4-for-11, .364, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB on the week.
+ Ian Rister, RHP, (Heath, 2025):
5 IP, 1-0, 2 H, 2 BB, 0 R, 2 K on the week.
+ Jonah Williams, CF/P, (Galveston Ball, 2025):
Got the save in both games this week vs. Manvel. 4-for-5 at the plate with a 2B and a 3B: 4-for-5, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 R, 1 RBI, 2 Int. BB; 4 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 9 K, earned 2 saves as a pitcher. (Hitting .471 with an OPS of 1.344 , 12 IP with 26 Ks and 3 BB, ERA of 1.16 on the season)
+ Trey Rangel, RHP/SS, (The Colony, 2026):
Combined No-Hitter: 2-for-7, HR, 5 RBI; 5 IP, 0 H, 2 BB, 13 K on the week.
+ Sean Howell, RHP/1B, (Rockport-Fulton, 2025):
Weekly Summary: Tuesday (3/19/24) vs. Beeville (currently 1st in District) came in and pitched the last inning to seal the victory. Friday (3/22/24) vs. Port Lavaca (2nd in our District) was lights out on the mound (15 K's) and had a 2 RBI single in the top of the 9th inning for the Pirates. 8.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 16 K.
+ Grady Scarborough, RHP, (College Park, 2025):
Threw a No-Hitter against College Station: 7 IP, 0 H, 3 BB, 0 ER 7 K.
+ Timothy Haynes, RHP, (Lubbock-Cooper, 2024; Midland JC commit):
7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 5 K, 80 Pitches. (4-1, 32 IP, 4 Runs, 3 ER's, 28K's, 1 BB, 1 HBP, .656 ERA on the season)
+ Kade Davis, LHP/OF, (Cedar Park, 2024; Temple JC commit):
Game 1 vs Lehman pitched a complete game only allowing 2 hits and 1 run. In Game 2 vs Lehman hit the go ahead grand slam in the top of the 10th to take the lead: 10 PA, 5-for-8 (3 1B, 1 2B, 1 HR - Grand Slam), 5 RBI, 2 BB, .625 Batting Average, .700 On Base Percentage, 7/10 Quality At Bats (.700 QAB%) - 5 IP, CG, 1 R, 8 K.
