Updated 2018 Illinois Rankings: Top Outfielders

On Monday of last week the 2018 rankings were updated and expanded from 35 to 75. The depth of the 2018 class has strengthened considerably since the last update mainly due to the numerous events over the winter.

There are now thirteen outfielders ranked in the sophomore class. Alek Thomas (Mount Carmel), the top outfielder in the state is also ranked No. 2 in the PBR overall rankings. Thomas, a premium athlete with a high-ceiling, is a left-handed hitter with easy power in his bat.

The No. 2 outfielder in the class is Zaid Walker (Homewood-Flossmoor). 6-foot-2, 195-pound Walker is a right-hander hitter with explosive bat speed. Defensively, has shown the ability to play all three outfield spots and also third base. Ranked No. 7 in Illinois.
