Wisconsin hasn’t had a high school prospect drafted in the first round since 1979. Kendall is unlikely to break that streak, but still has a chance at being picked in the first five rounds—something that has only happened five times in the last three decades.

Kendall was on the radar in Wisconsin early, standing out with an advanced approach for a sophomore in 2012. He then got down the first base line in 3.8 seconds at the Wisconsin Preseason Showcase in March 2013 while also recording an exit velocity of 87 mph and throwing 89 from the outfield. That summer, at the Tournament of Stars, Kendall struggled some at the plate, but ripped off a 6.4-second 60-yard dash and continued to show off his defensive prowess. His offensive abilities showed some life at the Area Code Games in August, where he routinely terrorized the defense by putting the ball in play and stealing bases at will.

Kendall is inconsistent with the bat as he struggled again at the World Wood Bat Championship in October, but given his other tools, he could be an attractive pick if he flashes projection with his hit tool. Scouts will have a limited look this spring with Wisconsin’s weather. If they don’t bite this time around, Kendall will have three years at Vanderbilt to prove his case.
