The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we have started the '24 CIF High School baseball season Prep Baseball California is now highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '25 Class Rankings. These JR year players are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '25 RHP Chase McGill from California High School. McGill is a strong framed 6'2 195 lbs right hander who combines a pair of quality offerings with a feel for an emering 2 other offspeed offerings. With a delivery that sequences well out of the stretch showing the ability to stay online with his lower half. His arm action is longer in the back with quickness to the arm path while showing good intent. There is some effort to the operation that could mean a future reliever profile, but he shows the feel for the strike zone and durability in his frame that gives him the potential to be a starter as he advances forward. His stuff is headlined by a mid 80's FB that will touch 87 presently and has room to continue adding velocity to it. His CB flashes power with the spin rate getting up to 2600 with a shorter break to it. Adds a CHG in 78-81 MPH range that is firm and will need to separate off his FB/CB combo to be more effective, but does throw it for strikes. Adds a short breaking SLD in the low 80's that like his CHG will need to be tweaked but flashes potential. The overall collection of his frame, good delivery, ability to throw strikes, 2 quality pitches with a potential for 2 more should have McGill on '25 recruiting boards as a quality arm out of NorCal with potential to start and a strong reliever profile.
