JUCO Uncommitted Spotlight - Shea McGahan

Sophomore C Shea McGahan is enjoying an impressive season for the Cavaliers. Through 32 games, McGahan has shown great bat-to-ball skills with 38 hits and only 12 strikeouts. The Lindbergh HS product boasts a .409/.486/.624 slash line and has shown flashes of power with 4 home runs, 6 doubles, and 1 triple. Behind the plate, McGahan has thrown out the one runner who attempted to steal on him. In last fall’s Johnson County CC Scout Day, McGahan showed off a pop time range of 1.75-1.82 with a max velo of 84. McGahan also achieved a max exit velo of 101.2 and ran a 7.19 60 yd dash. A plus hit tool and ability behind the plate gives McGahan a great chance to achieve success at the next level.

Scouting Report

McGahan is an athletic and lean 6-foot, 175 pound right-handed hitting catcher.  Mcgahan impressed both offensively and defensively.  At the plate, tall set up, smooth load back, short stride, explosive lower half, explosive bat speed, level bat path, gap to gap approach, 90 mph exit velocity.  Behind the plate, soft hands, quick and clean exchange, high 3/4 arm slot, exceptional arm strength and accuracy, throws at 80 mph, 1.88-2.12 pop times,  7.19 in the 60.
