With the 2019 Maryland High School baseball season just underway and games right around the corner, we begin to close out our complete preseason coverage with a look at every conference throughout that state. We will break down each conference with a preview of teams expected to contend as well as key players from across the league that you won't want to miss play.

Note: A preseason questionnaire was sent out to all Maryland high school baseball coaches in Mid-January to gain pertinent information for this piece but not all forms were completed and returned. Below is a compilation of information received as well as thoughts from our staff at PBR Maryland.

2019 Season Outlook

John's Hopkins' Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium played host last season as Poly defeated City College 3-2 in walk-off fashion to claim the 2018 Baltimore City crown. It was revenge for the Engineers who fell to the Black Knights in 2017 and a chance to cap off a perfect 14-0 league record. The two programs look once again to be the class of Baltimore City with each team placing six players on this year's preseason All-Baltimore City teams. 15th year head coach Corey Goodwin and Poly return three starters from last year's line-up in Richard Sammy (.362 AVG, 17 RBI's), Dominick Allison (.392 AVG, 21 SB), Marcus Rumber (.299 AVG, 14 RBI's). Michael Pizza (5-1 W-L, 2.25 ERA in 31 IP), Allison, and senior Mervyn Thomas-Crawford figure to be the anchors of the staff for the Engineers in 2019. Look for newcomers Kevin ChinniaBrendan George, and Tyrone Tillery III to add depth and play key roles as well.

City College will be strong with Zach Kannam, and Mike Bond Jr. leading the charge. Seniors Cameron BanksJulian FrostEliot Holcomb, and junior Leo Rubinson round out the core group of returners.

Mervo could make some noise and contend for the Division I title with seniors Jeremiah Lynch, Julius LynchReyvon JonesKeshon Bull, junior Ivan Walters, and sophomore Vernon Selby IV all returning.

Division II figures to be wide open with no clear cut favorite. Dunbar and Ben Franklin dropped from DI to DII and will battle it out with Lake Clifton, New Era, Carver Vo-Tech, Forest Park, National Academy, and Reginald Lewis for a spot in the Championship at Poly High School.
