Top Prospect - St. Louis: Missouri Infielders

The third annual Top Prospect Games - St. Louis, took place Tuesday, June 4th. The invite-only event brought together some of the top uncommitted 2020s from Missouri and Illinois to SIU-Edwardsville. The event consisted of a showcase in the morning and games in the afternoon with 30+ colleges in attendance.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Here is a closer look at the Missouri Infielders from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

Missouri Infielders

Aidan Baltz SS / RHP / Lees Summit West, MO / 2020

Baltz is a 5-foot-9 155-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.64 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load with weight shift to back side, quick hands with fast bat speed, level through he zone, feel for the barrel with hands creating bat whip, gap to gap approach.  On the field, works under the ball and field out front in athletic position, athletic actions in footwork, high three quarters arm slot, clean transfers, stays under control, mostly accurate throws, loose arm action with 87 mph positional velocity.

Carter Clark RHP / 3B / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2020

Clark is a long limbed 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 5.18 home to first and an 87 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, wide base with load  in lower half to back side, toe tap, level path through the hitting zone with middle to pull side line drives during hitting evals.  On the infield, over the top arm slot, arm works from different angles, fields ball in athletic position, fluid actions with clean transfer and throw, mostly accurate throws, 79 mph positional velocity.

Joe Hackmann RHP / 3B / Washington, MO / 2020

Hackman is a 6-foot-2 225-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 5.29 home to first and had a 91 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, tall and open stance, toe tap to trigger with quiet hands, in line stride, level bat path with loose hands through extension and finish, finds the barrel, middle to pull side contact.  On the infield, over the top arm slot, active footwork to the ball, fields ball in athletic position, quick catch and throw with mostly accurate throws, 74 mph positional velocity.

Adam Lange 1B / RHP / Francis Howell North, MO / 2020

Lange is a 6-foot-2 235-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 5.75 home to first and had a 90 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts in an athletic, works down into back leg to load, slight lift to bat path, middle of the infield approach.  On the infield, short over the top arm slot, moves well with active footwork, clean transfer, soft hands with mostly accurate throws, 74 mph positional velocity.

Jack Martin 3B / SS / Westminster, MO / 2020

Martin is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.72 home to first and has an 88 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, simple and repeatable swing with no wasted movements, hands create pre swing rhythm level and loos path, flashes pull side power, stays balanced on strong lower half.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velocity, over the top release, works behind and plays through the ball with athletic footwork, clean transfer and arm action, accurate throws. 

Caleb Mabe 1B / 3B / Union, MO / 2020

Mabe is a strong 6-foot-3 220-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.94 home to first and had an 88 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance, loads with weight shift to back side, short to contact, quick bat speed, gap to gap approach with power potential to pull side.  On the infield, quick footwork, soft hands with cleans transfers on time with footwork

Bryce Mayer SS / RHP / St. Francis Borgia , MO / 2020

Mayer is an athletic 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.69 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts with wide base, loads agains back side with leg kick, in line stride, short the to the ball with level path to extension, line drive gap to gap during hitting evals.  On the infield, short over the top arm slot, athletic actions with soft hands, quick transfer and throw staying under control, feet and exchange in sync, positional velocity 76 mph positional velocity, accurate throws.

Brennan Orf 3B / RHP / Westminster , MO / 2020

Orf is a well built 6-foot-4 215-pound left-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.78 home to first and had a 94 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts loaded in back side, attacks ball with quick and short stride, hands create fast bat speed, slight lift at finish, hard contact to middle and pull side of the field, power potential.  On the infield, over the top arm slot, controlled actions, fields ball out front in athletic position, fluid exchange, gains ground with footwork with one shuffle after the catch.

Britton Robertson SS / RHP / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2020

Robertson is a 5-foot-10 155-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.69 home to first and had an 83 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load to back side with some hand load, controlled leg lift, level path through the zone, loose hands with gap to gap line drives.  On the infield, 73 mph positional velocity, fields ball in athletic position, smooth footwork, clean exchange, over the arm slot with footwork creating momentum through the catch.

Bryce Ruiz 2B / RHP / Francis Howell North, MO / 2020

Ruiz is a 6-foot 175-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 5.00 home to first and has an 85 mph exit velocity, at the plate, balance stance, quiet hands, loads with toe tap, quick in line stride, hands control the barrel, middle of the field approach, slight lift to bat path.  On the infield, 75 mph positional velocity, fluid footwork to the ball, one shuffle of the feet before release, high three quarters arms lot, clean transfers with mostly accurate throws.

Matthew Schark 3B / 1B / Francis Howell, MO / 2020

Schark is a strong 5-foot-4 220-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.91 home to first and had a 94 mph positional velocity.  At the plate, starts slightly loaded on back side, attacks ball with minimal load and quiet hands, quick and loose bat speed, level plane, consistent hard contact to all field, power to pull gap, feel for the barrel.  On the infield, athletic actions, loose high three quarters arm slot, clean transfers on time with footwork, accurate throws, 78 mph positional velocity.

Jack Stucky SS / 2B / Rockhurst , MO / 2020

Stucky is a long and lean 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 4.76 home to first and had an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, slight weight shift to back side to load, simple with no wasted movement, short in line stride with toe tap, good barrel awareness, level swing plane, middle of the field approach.  On the infield, short over the top arm slot, active feet works behind the ball and creates momentum to throw, clean exchange, athletic actions, accurate throws.

Drew Sutton 3B / RHP / Holt , MO / 2020

Sutton is an athletically built 5-foot-10 169-pound right handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.60 home to first and had an 88 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance, small stride, accelerated bat speed after stride, level path, middle to pull side contact during hitting evals, flashing pull side power, compact swing.  On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, over the top arm slot, stays under control with fluid footwork, soft hands with clean transfers, long arm circle, mostly accurate throws.

Kellen Williamson SS / 2B / Battle , MO / 2020

Williamson is a 5-foot-9 150-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.44 home to first and has an 86 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts with a wide base, controlled leg lift with slight rotation in hips, hand have pre-pitch rhythm with minimal load, in line stride, hands create quick bat speed with range, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, quick to the ball with footwork, clean exchange, fields ball out front, mostly accurate throws.
