On Deck Preview: Preseason All-State - Capital Region

Ground Forces

As we kick off our Preseason All-State tour this weekend, we highlight some returning players that we are excited to see the results from an off season of training.

 2020 Preseason All-State - Capital Region

Brandon Biggane C / RHP / Columbia, NY / 2021

At the plate, Biggane was impressive once again during batting practice. Biggane has a quick direct path to the baseball and drives the baseball all over the field. Good use of the lower half and stays balanced throughout the swing. Behind the plate, Biggane has simple good actions and is consistent in live game action. Pop time range was 2.07-2.16 and the throwing velocity was 73 MPH. Biggane has a projectable frame and someone to follow as he continues to grow and develop.

Ben Hladun LHP / OF / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, NY / 2021

Offensively- the left handed hitter stands in the box with feet shoulder width apart. Short simple load actions. Takes a short stride towards the pitcher before entering the hitting zone. Smooth exchange to a quick release from a high 3/4 arm slot. Pitching- the left handed pitcher displayed a repeatable delivery and projectable arm. Works mainly from the stretch. Works off a high knee lift and works downhill with intent. FB has late life.

Mackey takes his time to gather himself into a balanced backside and works downhill on plane. FB peaked at 75 MPH.

Jerek Hobb LHP / OF / Schalmont, NY / 2022

Hobbs stands 5-foot-10, 140-pounds with a lean athletic build, frame has the ability to hold more weight. He uses a fast tempo to his delivery, short back arm-action with fast hand-speed out in front. Fastball peaks 81 mph, natural arm-side run with easy signs of more velocity in the tank. Shows above average spin on his curveball, 68-69 with fee for the strikezone. Next-level southpaw from the greater Albany area to keep eyes on.
