OK Fall Top Prospect Games: Third Basemen Analysis

PBR OK hosted the fourth annual OK Fall Top Prospect Games at beautiful Central Oklahoma. Over 65 invite-only players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff, 6 colleges and two pro scouts. The talented event saw five sub 7.00 60s, 6 90+ exit velos, 14 infield velos of 80+, four outfield velos of 85+, six sub 2.00 second pop times, and five max fastballs at 85 mph. Players profiles have already been updated with stats and pictures with reports and video to be updated in the weeks to come. The number below do not represent a players all-time best, only what they achieved at this event. Today, we check out the twelve third baseman from the event.

Cole Adkins 3B / OF / Edmond Memorial , OK / 2021

The primary third baseman displayed a stocky 5-foot-8, 170-pound frame. The left-handed hitter starts in a tall, even stance with hands at the ear, utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Demonstrated hip drift and a line-drive approach during batting practice with room to add intent. Registered a 75 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee with feel for his hands and recorded a 7.53 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman showcased adequate footwork while arriving to the baseball on time with regularity during defensive evaluations. Created momentum with a strong lower half towards the target generating accurate throws of 77 mph from a high ¾ arm-slot. 

Daxton Hembree 3B / RHP / Westville, OK / 2022

Demonstrated feel for a projectable 6-foot, 160-pound frame with current athleticism. The right-handed hitter initiates with a tall, even stance utilizing a toe-tap to initiate his swing. Hits into a front side with give while using sink into a strong lower-half. Generated a flat barrel path through the baseball yielding an 80 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.03 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman showcased a low center of gravity with range to both sides. Feet created advantageous hops and allowed for momentum through the target. Registered a 78 mph arm-strength across the infield out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot.

Jackson Hill C / 3B / Deer Creek, OK / 2021

Showcased a physical 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame with projectability. The right-handed hitter starts with a bent, even stance utilizing a leg-hang with weight-shift to initiate his swing. Hit into a stiff front side with late give while a slightly uphill barrel path whipped through the hitting zone upon contact. Generated a solid 86 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee and recorded a 7.62 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman displayed adequate footwork with long movements. Flashed a low center of gravity and soft glove hand while registering accurate 82 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. 

ELI HILL 

3B / OF / WESTMOORE, OK / 2023

Showcased a stocky 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame with a strong lower-half. The right-handed hitter begins with a bent, even stance using a short leg-lift to initiate his swing. Displayed a line drive approach utilizing a flat barrel path into the zone while hitting into a stiff front side. Showed adequate feel for the barrel during batting practice while registering a solid 85 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.77 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman flashed adequate footwork while getting around the baseball, creating momentum towards the target. Notched an accurate 70 mph arm-strength out of a high ¾ arm-slot. 

JADEN JOHANNESEN

3B / SS / OWASSO, OK / 2022

The 5-foot-9, 140-pound infielder showcased a lean frame with athleticism and some twitch. The right-handed hitter begins with a wide, even stance utilizing a quick toe-tap to initiate his swing. Upper half stretch and a strong lower-half propel the barrel through a slightly uphill barrel path in the zone. Sink into the legs and some twitch generated advanced bat-speed for his frame yielding an 87 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.27 60-yard dash. Demonstrated adequate footwork with the ability to pick it during defensive evaluations. Showed smooth transfers with some range allowing for accurate 71 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a moderate takeaway. 

Brennan Morgan 3B / RHP / Marlow , OK / 2022

Demonstrated a filled-out 6-foot-1, 210-pound frame with a strong lower half. The right-handed hitter begins with an even, balanced stance with high hands utilizing a leg-kick to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the zone. Generated advanced barrel whip with extension long through the ball launching balls in BP while registering an 85 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.75 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman displayed long actions with a low center of gravity, creating momentum towards the target. Flashed a soft glove hand with give and notched accurate throws of 86 mph across the infield out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Jacob (Jake) Kennedy 3B / RHP / Enid , OK / 2023

The infielder showcased a lean and projectable 6-foot, 150-pound frame with room to fill out as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins from an even stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Generated natural lift with some sink into the lower half while hitting into a stiff front side. Registered a 72 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee and recorded a 7.69 60-yard dash. Featured fluid actions defensively with a low center of gravity and first step quickness allowing for range to both sides. Smooth transfers yielded accurate 76 mph throws across the diamond out of a moderate, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Tyler O'Brien RHP / 3B / Bridge Creek, OK / 2021

The primary right-handed pitcher featured a long and lean 6-foot-2, 155-pound frame with projectability. The right-handed hitter begins with an even stance and a high elbow utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a flat barrel path through the hitting zone yielding a line-drive approach during batting practice. Demonstrated feel for his hands and the barrel while registering an 81 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.65 60-yard dash. Showcased average footwork during defensive evaluations with soft hands while notching 70 mph throws across the infield out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a hitch in the back. 

Cody Sorrells 3B / RHP / Deer Creek, OK / 2022

Demonstrated feel for a lean 6-foot-1, 155-pound frame with athleticism and projectability. The right-handed hitter begins with a narrow, open stance utilizing a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Hands start low at the midline of the chest and move back for stretch upon load. Generated a slightly uphill barrel path in the zone while hitting into a soft front-side. Created backspin to the pull side registering an 83 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Showcased adequate footwork while playing low to the ground allowing for range to both sides. A soft glove hand and solid transfers yielded accurate 78 mph throws across the infield out of a long, high ¾ arm-slot. 

Nate Windle 3B / C / Tuttle , OK / 2021

The primary third baseman showcased a lean and projectable 5-foot-11, 162-pound frame with athleticism. The right-handed hitter begins with a bent, slightly-open stance utilizing a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a smooth, repeatable swing with plenty of barrel whip through a slightly uphill barrel path. A fluid lower half created advanced extension through the zone during batting practice registering an 88 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee while hitting into a stiff front-side. In the game, had three hits including an RBI double to deep center field Recorded a 7.07 60-yard dash showing comfortability in his current frame. The backstop demonstrated solid receiving skills with a soft glove-hand and minimal body sway at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 1.94-2.03 using advanced straight line footwork and smooth transfers yielding an accurate 76 mph arm-strength out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. Flashed solid blocking skills behind the dish with soft walls on both sides of the plate with downward angles allowing for easy recovery. The third baseman showed adequate footwork with long actions during defensive evaluations. Arrived on time to the baseball while notching accurate 82 mph across the diamond. 

Sawyer Reddick 3B / OF / Silo, OK / 2023

The 5-foot-8, 135-pound primary third baseman featured a lean frame with room to add size and strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter starts with an even, balanced setup utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a slightly uphill barrel path through the zone yielding some lift to the pull side during batting practice. Hit into a stiff front side with sink into the lower half allowing for an 81 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.89 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman showcased adequate footwork during defensive evaluations with a soft glove hand. Flashed a whippy 73 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot with high effort. The outfielder showed active feet creating momentum towards the target with consistency. Sink into the lower half yielded a strong base and accurate 72 mph arm-strength from his position.

Zack Wright 3B / RHP / Owasso, OK / 2020

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound primary third baseman featured a long, projectable frame with present strength. The right-handed hitter begins with a narrow, open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a flat barrel-path through the hitting zone while hitting into a stiff front side with some twitch. A high finish created an early exit from the zone, limiting extension. Showed a feel for the barrel during batting practice while recording an 85 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Registered a 7.49 60-yard dash. The corner infielder flashed long, easy actions during defensive evaluations while arriving to the ball on time with regularity. A low center of gravity and strong lower-half created consistent 79 mph throws across the diamond out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot.
