UNCOMMITTED SPOTLIGHT

'24 3B Jace Chasteen (Century)

5’11, 180 lbs with present strength in the frame. Sets up with feet spread & a wide base in the box. Upright posture with direct alignment towards pitcher. Slow, gathered load onto back side with some weight shift. Short, quick forward stride. Hands begin even with back shoulder then pull back with a scap load as he creates stretch against front side. Early barrel turn gets swing on-plane & in the zone quickly. Swing stays behind the ball with extension after contact. Strong, quick hands. Stays centered while rotating through contact with a more level finish. At 3B, starts tall with a more narrow base then works down to the ball with loose hips and hinge at the waist. Defensively uses active feet and steady tempo/momentum to work through the play. Funnels ball in just slightly inside glove side leg which allows him to flow through exchange into throwing motion. Short, compact arm action with higher takeaway & release. ¾ slot with carry. Showed quickness out of the gate & short range burst as a runner.

Body: 5-11, 180-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Wide base with bend in knees. Weight balanced evenly. Quiet, low hands rest over rear pec. Short stride with wide base maintained. Hands load with high back elbow. Creates extension at contact and meets ball out front. Quick barrel path with long, one-handed finish. 69.6 mph bat speed with 14 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 77.3 mph. 347' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-75 mph. High 3/4 arm slot with a quick release from field point. Tucked, controlled glove side follow.
Defense: Narrow base at prep step with gloveside leg lead. Leaps to wider stance on approach. Works around and through fielding process. Active footwork through throws.
