PA 2024 Rankings Update

Ted Williams
VP of Scouting/Content

As the summer winds to a close and we look forward to the fall, our staff sat down for a modest update to the 2024 class rankings. One of the deeper groups of pitching in recent memory is bolstered with power arms, front-lined by RHP Tegan Kuhns (Gettysburg), RHP Cade Oleary (Pittsburgh Central Catholic), and 1B/LHP Tague Davis (Malvern Prep).

Some shuffling occurred inside the Top 10 with LHP/OF David Shields (Mt. Lebanon) being crowned the new #1
. Multiple household names jumped up the list, such as C/OF Anderson French (Red Land) at #4 and 3B Chase Harlan (Central Bucks East) right behind. Left-handed hitting OF Trevor Johnson (Bellefonte Area) was the biggest riser, moving from #33 overall to #11 overall.

Included below is the list of our 375 ranked, Top 10, uncommitted follows, and an updated players to watch list.

UNCOMMITTED FOLLOWS

+ C/RHP Dom TozziEquipped with a strong two-way frame at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds, Tozzi was a standout at the recent Mid-Atlantic Procase. The RH hitter produced a 99MPH EV and hovered between 1.90-1.98 on pop times at 81MPH. Also a notable arm up to 90MPH, there’s more than a few ways to get him on the field.

+ OF Moises Gonzalez, Jr.Imposing 5-foot-10, 205-pound build with some of the better raw power in the state. Generates next level bat-speed through a rotational path and there’s upside as a future middle of the order hitter. When comparing metrics (85MPH bat-speed, 27MPH hand-speed, 101MPH EV), few stack up.

+ RHP Connor CrabtreeA recent TreadHQ beneficiary with the FB maxing at 92MPH on 8/10, Crabtree stands a durable 6-foot-5, 230-pounds. Pitches from the stretch-only and gains a tough angle over the front side on RH batters. Chance to blossom into a future SNK/SL mix with killed spin across the arsenal. Big senior year incoming.

+ OF Bobby FillerWe’ve had the pleasure to scout Filler at least 5x over the past couple years and the athleticism continues to rise above the crowd. He’s an A/AVG runner with EV’s up to 102MPH, but it’s the simple short-to-long approach that impresses most. The primary OF has worked hard on a newfound 90MPH+ throwing arm.

+ C Ryan JonesListed at 5-foot-10, 185-pounds, Jones simply outplays the frame every time we see him. Broke through as a winner at #PAStateGames with a 6.82 60YD, 1.89 pop time, and 82MPH throwing arm, while he tacked on (4) hits across six at-bats. The former Delaware U commit looks the part of an early starter behind the plate.

+ 1B/3B Stone PowellAn under-the-radar, XL 6-foot-3, 220-pounder, Powell has been a consummate performer on the national scene including a (17/24) with 8 XBH across two tournaments in late July. Tore up the PBR 16U National Championships, showing off his 101MPH EV and sub-7.00 60YD. It's easy to fall in love with the swing.

+ OF Anthony TrommerThe CF carries bursty actions around the grass with enough stretch on the backside to unleash a whippy barrel to all parts of the zone. Really accelerates through for an upper-90’s EV and handled 100% of the leadoff at-bats this spring. Wouldn’t be surprised if the + runner carved out a role early; fearless competitor.

+ OF/LHP Antonio AstolfiWide-shouldered with a calming/mature presence at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds, Astolfi owns serious bat-to-ball skills. The LH hitter maintained a T96MPH EV (90 AVG) during Baseball U Scout Day, up to 352FT. It’s a grounded, well-sequenced turn that extends with leverage towards the RCF gap. An 87MPH OF arm passes the eye test as well.
