Two perennial WPIAL contenders got together for an early season non-section matchup on Thursday. The game was well played on both sides with the Raiders getting the difference making, timely hit. As is often the case in challenging weather conditions, pitching dominated the day.

Seneca Valley opened up the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd inning when 2018 SS/2B Anthony Cinicola, a Slippery Rock recruit, tripled in Cameron Vozel. 

Penn Trafford evened the score at one in the top of the sixth. Zach Mancz, a Pittsburgh recruit, reached by walk and stole second. He then scored on a Cade Patterson single.

Drew Robertson opened the bottom of the seventh with a pinch hit single. He eventually reached third by way of an error and a fielders choice ground out. Bucknell recruit, Andrew Funovits then walked the Raiders off with a dramatic single to score Robertson.

Both teams looked to limit pitch counts in the early season, blustery, weather conditions. Seneca Valley's Cory Greiner, Jon McCullough, Donald Alway, a Slippery Rock recruit, and Andrew Funovits (winning pitcher) combined to allow one earned run on five hits while striking out nine. The Warriors used Christian Pfronger, Max Pici and Ben Mongelluzzo, a Clarion recruit, for a 2 R, 4 H, 8 K line.

Penn Trafford"s Cade Patterson (2-for-3, 1 RBI) recorded the only multihit game for either side.
