Scouting Report

9/24/17 - Home-1st: 4.41, Pop Time: 1.87-2.00, Position Velocity:  81, Exit Velocity: 88
6-foot-1, 160-pound, RHH allowed his big tools to play, putting himself in the Top 10 in several categories from the event.  Features a thin, athletic body w/ lean strength and lot of projection.  In the box, the righty hits from an open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location w/ bat waggle.  Leg kick lands open w/ power load where hands are low.  Generates above avg bat speed for size w/ ability to generate backspin.  Showed some in game power, hitting a triple over the RF’s head to cap off a 2-4 performance.  Above avg runner is a short strider w/ good top end speed.  Stole a base in game and was 4.00 on a drag bunt for a single.  Defensively, caught an inning in game.  Presents quality target w/ soft hands and feel for receiving.  Recorded the top pop time in testing, showing off his plus arm strength.  Potential 5 tool player offensively at the collegiate level.

9/24/17 - Max FB: 88, FB: 85-88, CB: 71-76, CH: 69-72, SL: 75-79
6-foot-1, 160-pound, RHP showed two plus pitches w/ lot of projection.  Pitches from a full wind-up w/ a rocker step and replaces his push-off foot on the rubber.  Hands over head to balance point w/ front leg leading to plate.  Legs along for the ride w/ H ¾ arm slot.  FB shows consistent arm side run w/ occasional sink.  Can dominate the arm side part of the plate to RHH’s.  CB is 12-6 w/ avg to above avg depth, flashes tight rotation, late break.  SL is true out pitch, recorded 5 of 6 of his strikeouts on it.  ¾ tilt w/ late break, tight rotation.  Gets a little big and slurvy at times.  Slows arm down on CH, shows occasional cut, occasional sink.  Feel for the strike zone, developing command.  Command will come as mechanics gain consistency.  Pitches w/ an attitude, confident on the mound.  Struck out 5 in 3 innings w/ 28 % swing and miss rate and was difficult to lift, as all 5 balls put in play were groundballs.  Big time arm w/ bright future.

9/18/17 - Max FB: 87, FB (84-87), CB (75-78), CH (79)
6-1, 160 pound two way player shows high upside offensively and defensively.  Offensively, he hits from an open, upright stance w/ back shoulder hand location.  Some bat waggle.  Leg kick w/ load where hands drop just below his chest.  Above avg bat speed.  Learning to repeat swing every time.  Defensively, shows the tools to stay behind the plate w/ arm strength and accuracy, clocked him with two 1.97's between innings.  On the mound, shows upside w/ lightning quick arm.  Pitches from a full wind-up w/ lot of moving parts.  Does not engage lower half.  FB w/ consistent arm side run and sink.  Occasional ride through the zone.  CB flashes plus w/ tight rotation, late break, above average depth.  CH shows armspeed w/ little life.  Around the zone, still developing command.  Just scratching the surface of how good he can be.
