The Fuqua Falcons responded from a 2-0 deficit to score 12 unanswered runs through the last five innings to defeat fellow VISAA DIII contender Carlisle by a score of 12-2.

The game started on opposite ends for both teams, as Carlisle worked quick first two innings on the defensive end and took a quick 2-0 lead in the first while leaving the bases loaded in the second. Carlisle’s leadoff man Taylor Roberts got hit to start the game promptly stole second and then stole third after breaking early on an inside move pick-off attempt from the pitcher. The throw to third from the infielder bounced off the glove and past the bag, allowing Roberts to score. Carlisle would get their second run from the bat of 2020 Trey Carter who sent a solo shot to right field for a quick 2-0 lead.

Fuqua stayed the course and got stronger as the game went. After Fuqua starter DJ Williams stranded the bases with a big strikeout to end the second inning, the Falcons quickly struck back from the bat of 2020 Elijah Warner. The sophomore backstop sent a two run blast to right to tie the game in the third.

Fuqua again would threaten in the fourth with a big six run inning. A bases loaded squeeze, infield single, a seeing eye single that turned into a double after the Carlise outfielder lost his footing, which turned to two more runs. Warner drove those two in as well and that would be followed by a Colton Copley 2-RBI single to extend the lead to 8-2.

Warners big day would continue as the catcher drove in his final two runs of the day on a double to left center giving the Falcons a 10-2 lead in the sixth inning. Fuqua would add two more in the final frame to make it 12-2 which would be the final.

Warner ended up with six RBI on the day with two doubles and a homerun at the plate.  Copley pitched four innings of relief to pick up the victory for the Falcons.
