Class 1

Auburn 9, Lancaster 0

The Eagles and Red Devils kicked off Championship Friday from Calfee Park at 9 a.m. The 1A state title game was shaping up to be a dandy as we were locked in a pitcher's duel through the early innings of the contest. The scoreless affair lasted for four complete innings of play. The Eagles broke the tie in the top half of the fifth inning after a lead off walk came around to score due to a stolen base and an error later in the inning. That sparked the Eagles offense which exploded for eight runs over the next two innings of play to give the Eagles a 9-0 lead. That amount proved to be more than enough as Brady Harris and Reed Underwood combined to shutout the Red Devils offense.

The Eagles dominant victory proved why they were the 2019 1A State Champions. This state title gives the Eagles their second title in the last three years.

Class 2

Chatham 23, Lebanon 5

The second half of Championship Friday from Calfee Park came from the 2A division between the Chatham Cavaliers and the Lebanon Pioneers. The action began early and often as this game proved to be a very high scoring contest. Chatham cracked the score column in the top of the first inning due to a one-out rbi double from Brae Adkins. The hitting was contagious for the Cavaliers on Friday. They proceeded to to put up twenty-two more runs throughout the six-remaining innings of the contest. The Cavaliers offense racked up a total of twenty-one hits in the contest. The Cavaliers ace Andrew Potojecki struck out eight over six innings of work while only giving up only four runs. The Pioneers managed to scratch one more run in the bottom of the seventh. The final for the 2A State Championship was 23-5 in favor of the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers rout of the Pioneers proved why they deserved to be the 2019 2A State Champions. This convincing victory gives the Cavaliers their first state title since 2009.
