We take a look at five players that stood out this week.

Amherst County

Dalton Wentz SS / RHP / Amherst County, VA / 2024

On Monday Wentz started off the 2024 season with a bang. Wentz went 2-3 on the night with a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth to propel the Lancers to the win. Wentz was on barrel all night showing an aggressive approach with feel for the zone. Wentz also made an impact at shortstop making key plays up the middle. Wentz looks like he is heading towards a big 2024 season.

Hanover

Brady Elrod OF / RHP / Hanover, VA / 2026

Elrod returns for his sophomore year and looks to be a staple at the top of the Hawks lineup. He picked up two hits including a two run homerun. Elrod picked up both of his hits with two strikes so there is comfortability and adjustability in his approach. He has an athletic and strong frame with room to continue to add strength. Elrod looked strong defensively in center showing off some range running down a ball in the gap for an out. He is definitely a name to circle going forward.

Grayson Reece SS / RHP / Hanover, VA / 2026

Grayson Reece was impressive at the plate on Wednesday night picking up two hits. He was aggressive showing feel for the barrel using the whole field with line drives. Reece also made some solid plays in the infield on the night as well. He has positon versatility and is a advanced defender. If he continues to add strength and the bat continues to trend up he can be a key piece for the Hawks this spring.

Owen Terry C / SS / Hanover, VA / 2025

Terry was very impressive in the middle of the Hawks lineup. He put up a multi hit night as well as being very strong defensively behind the plate. He showed soft hands and athleticism behind the plate. Offensively he has loose hands with a level barrel path with a gap to gap approach. Terry shows some promise in being a run producer in the Hawks lineup this spring.

TJ Woodson SS / RHP / Hanover , VA / 2025

The 2023 Prep Baseball Future Games alum got his 2024 season off to a fast start. It was a three hit night for Woodson being the table setter at the top of the lineup for the Hawks. He shows feel for the barrel with zone awareness. He's not afraid to work into deep counts and is a tough out. Woodson has continued to add strength to his athletic frame and it is evident. Woodson will be a key guy for the Hawks being the leader at the top of the lineup and up the middle.
