Mills Godwin

Zach Boyd RHP / SS / Mills Godwin, VA / 2024

Boyd was very impressive in his two innings of relief. He threw two shutout innings with no hits picking up three strikeouts. Boyd worked up to 88 sitting 84-86 with the FB. The fastball gets on hitters quick where he worked the corners well creating some swing and miss. He went to the sharp breaking slider for his out pitch. The slider froze hitters in the box creating some chaos. Boyd looks sharp early in the year for the Eagles, he will play a vital part in the rotation.

Hunter Ross RHP / C / Mills Godwin, VA / 2024

Ross came in to close out the game for the Eagles and was quick and efficient. Ross worked with pace and tempo messing with hitters timing and attacking the zone early. He showed consistency with the curveball landing it for strikes in any count. The fastball worked well off the curveball keeping hitters guessing in the 83-85 range. Ross struck out the side in the seventh to lead the Eagles to the win.

Trinity Episcopal

Jalen German RHP / 1B / Trinity Episcopal , VA / 2026

German got the start for Trinity Episcopal and it was a up and down start. German was scattered early in the game but settled in later and found a way to get important outs to get off the field. The fastball was 85-88 and worked up to 90 and 92 one time each. It was a live fastball and it got on hitters quick but was relied on a lot due to the inconsistency of the slider. German did find the ability to land the slider later in the outing in the 78-80 range. The shape on the slider has improved since previous looks. German will log a lot of innings this spring but getting quick outs and working less into deep counts will be a key for German moving forward.

Lawson Mcleod RHP / 1B / Trinity Episcopal, VA / 2026

Mcleod showed flashes of being a big frontline arm. It is a super projectable 6'5 210 pound frame with plenty of more in the tank. Mcleod was called in for relief in a big spot for the Titans and he minimized damage. He used the fastball in the 88-91 range working the corners with a downhill plane. He flashed a firm slider in the 80-82 range. The shape on the slider is more like a cutter right now but is still developing the feel and shape for it. Mcleod had three walks in a inning and two thirds picking up four strikeouts. Despite the three walks the misses were close and was in the zone for the majority of the outing. The development of secondary will be key going forward but there is a lot to like from the big right hander.

Atlantic Shores

Angelo Banks SS / RHP / ATLANTIC SHORES CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, VA / 2027

Banks was very intriguing in his start. The first noticeable thing in his start was his ability to spin two different breaking balls for strikes. The curveball was effective early in the count and then he would go to the slider for his put away pitch. The fastball was used effectively on the corners in the low eighties. Through five innings he only allowed two hits picking up six strikeouts. Banks is a arm to keep an eye on in the future as his body continues to mature and get stronger.

Brett Beasley SS / RHP / Atlantic Shores Christian, VA / 2025

Beasley was super impressive in two different looks. He was impressive at the plate having a two hit day on Wednesday. He was aggressive at the with feel for the strikezone. He uses the whole field with line drive tendencies with power gap to gap. There are fluid, athletic actions at short with plenty of arm strength. On Thursday he made an appearance on the mound and was nothing short of electric. He attacked hitters with a lively fastball 87-90 touching 91. The slider was a plus pitch. It was firm at 79-81 with late depth that got plenty of swing and miss. There is plenty intrigue with Beasley's two way ability.

Greenbrier Christian

Thomas Conrad OF / 1B / Greenbrier Christian, VA / 2025

Conrad had a strong showing on Thursday. It's a wiry athletic frame with more room to add strength. He had quality at bats displaying his bat to ball skills. Showed a controlled, aggressive approach with quick hands to turn the barrel. He picked up one hit on the night but in all of his at bats there was hard contact. It was a good early season look for Conrad that looks to continue the hot streak going forward.

Michael Urbaniak II C / 1B / Greenbrier Christian, VA / 2024

It didn't take long for Urbaniak to impress on Thursday night. He was aggressive and ripped an upper eighties fastball through the backside for a base knock in his first at bat. He went on to have a multi-hit night. He has bat to ball skills with a hitter's approach. Defensively he showed toughness and the will to block pitches in the dirt to go along with arm with catch and throw ability. It's a strong start to the spring for the senior catcher.
