Zac Bottoms

Scouting Report

5.23.17 All State Game
Hiatt is a 6-foot-1 180-pound left-hander with a wide frame and an average build. He shows an advanced feel to pitch with three pitches. His fastball worked 84-87 mph, his curveball was thrown 76-77 with 1/7 shape and late break, the change up was thrown 71-72 mph fastball arm speed and arm side run. Mechanically he does a sound job repeating his simple tall and fall delivery with easy effort and limited extension. Overall Hiatt is an advanced pitcher, that projects to throw harder as he physically matures.

Hiatt is a 6-foot-1 180-pound left-hander with a large frame and an average build. He works from an H ¾ arm slot with a loose quick arm action. His mechanics are repeated consistently with little effort. He command his fastball at 84-85 mph with late sink. He threw a power curveball with fastball arm speed at 73-77 mph with 1/7 shape. He did not throw his change up in game, but did not need to due to the effectiveness of his fastball curveball combo  Overall Hiatt is an advanced left-hander with tremendous upside, as he shows the arm speed to throw a power breaking ball with a clean arm action.

Hiatt is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound left-hander with a large frame and average build. He works from a High ¾ arm slot with a fluid repeatable delivery. He has a quick clean arm action. He locates his fastball 81-84 mph with slight arm side run. He compliments his fastball with a curveball and changeup. His curveball has 1/7 shape with late break thrown at 70-71 mph. The change up is thrown with near fastball arm speed, with velocity 72-74 mph. His repeatable mechanics, frame, and arm action makes Hiatt an intriguing prospect over the next few years.

Top Prospects 2017

Hiatt has been dominant for Catholic HS over the past 3 season. His ability to locate an absolute hammer breaking ball has led to his great success. The Rockets, have produced NCAA Division I pitchers consistently over the past 10 years, and Hiatt may have to best stuff of all of them. His early success started his recruiting process early. He committed to Arkansas in the fall of 2016.

After a busy summer with Sticks Baseball Academy, Hiatt and Arkansas decided to part ways from his commitment as Hiatt decided the NJCAA route was a route he would rather go both, academically and athletically.

Overall Hiatt is a large framed left-hander with a clean arm action and a feel to pitch. As he adds strength his velocity should increase. Added velocity with his pitch ability should allow him to be a draft prospect shortly into his junior college career.
