PUEBLO -- The Class 4A South-Central League baseball race has come down to the final week of the regular season involving three teams.

Pueblo East (7-1) holds a one-game lead over Pueblo South and Pueblo West, both 6-2, with two games to play.

The Eagles, the defending league champions, play Pueblo West on Tuesday and take on South on Saturday. East has already defeated both teams, having lost to Pueblo Centennial for its only league loss. Pueblo West has lost to South and East, while South has lost to Pueblo West and East.

This past Saturday, South kept its league title hopes alive with a 4-1 win over Pueblo West, while East rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to avoid an upset by Pueblo County in winning 6-5.

The Colts trailed the Cyclones 1-0 into the sixth inning and were getting no-hit by Pueblo West senior right-hander Darin Robinson. But two consecutive walks, the first hit of the game by South and an error allowed the Colts to score two runs and garner a 2-1 cushion. South added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to build a 4-1 cushion.

Senior Jared Baros went the distance for the Colts to pick up the mound victory, giving up six hits and striking out 10. Robinson also struck out 10.

East fell behind to Pueblo County 5-3 before scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Senior center fielder Kevin Ribarich delivered a one-out bases-loaded single to drive in the tying and go-ahead runs.
