Days Three and Four Scout Blog

Tyler Castelli OF / Armwood , FL / 2020

Committed to Embry-Riddle, Castelli had a strong weekend as he went 9-15, (.600 avg). He helped send the Ostingers to the championship game with a two-run walk off single in the semifinals.

Carlos Cruz SS / 2B / Tampa Catholic, FL / 2022

Cruz’s bat started to heat up on Monday. In the 17u championship, he got Hit Factory on the board early with a two-rbi single. He later followed that up with a rbi double.

Vincente Flores 1B / OF / Jesuit, FL / 2021

The physical first baseman found the barrel a ton this weekend and consistently hit the ball hard in each AB. Multiple exit velos 95+ including a double to deep center with a 97 mph exit velocity.

Gage Garcia RHP / SS / Rockledge, FL / 2021

Lanky, athletic 6-foot-1, 185 pound right-hander. Simple, repeatable mechanics. Comes from a high 3/4 arm slot sitting 83-85 T87. Live arm that should add velo with some added strength.

James Hankerson 1B / OF / Berkeley Prep, FL / 2023

The physical 6-foot-3, 240 pound Hankerson switch hitter continued to do what he does best by going deep from both sides of the plate on Sunday. RHH: 396 ft. 95 mph EV, dead CF. LHH: 390 ft. 96 mph EV, dead CF. Continued on Monday with multiple extra base hits. Hankerson continues to show raw power from both sides of the plate.

Dontavious Johnson OF / LHP / King, FL / 2021

Athletic, high waisted, strong lower half frame. Projectable athletic arm/ body actions. 4 IP, 1 hit, 3 K’s. FB: 80-83, RPM: 2511-2607, heavy action/slight cut. Showed some feel for a CB: 66-68, will come around with repetition.

Nick Klar OF / Sunlake, FL / 2021

Klar had himself a strong weekend. Slender frame, showed some power in his bat. Launched a three-run homer on Sunday to help give Gametime a win. Followed it up with another extra base hit including a double. Added strength could result in more power in the future.

Alejandro Montada C / 1B / Jefferson, FL / 2022

Montado showed strength in his swing this weekend and capped that off Monday as he launched a three-run homer to left that came off the bat at 93 mph and carried 367 feet. Montado would go on to help Wily Mo Baseball win the 16U championship.

Austin Olander 1B / RHP / Cardinal Mooney, FL / 2023

Liked the strength in the young 6-foot-1, 200 pound first baseman. Compact swing. Creates leverage to drive the ball gap-to-gap. Showed some power potential this weekend. That power will continue to come along as he continues to fill out his frame.

Jovani Puentes OF / RHP / Jefferson, FL / 2019

Puentes’s bat was on fire this weekend. He seemed to reach base each and every at bat. Multiple extra base hits, including three triples. Physical athlete with a bat that plays. Uncommitted player that can make an impact at any school that picks him up.

Logan Roberts 2B / OF / St. John Paul II, FL / 2020

Physical middle infielder found the barrel consistently throughout the weekend. Velo wasn’t a problem for Roberts as he turned on a 90 mph fastball for a triple. Added another extra base hit later on Sunday, and continued with a double on Monday. Defensively showed athletic actions and an above average arm up the middle.

Gabriel Suarez C / 3B / Plant, FL / 2022

Stocky, athletic frame. Quiet, strong hands, comfortable actions in the box. Works barrel directly to baseball. Consistent 90+ mph exit velo’s all weekend, hitting for a .530 avg.

Brock Wilken 3B / C / Bloomingdale, FL / 2020

The Wake Forest commit showed up with his bat in a big way again. Consistent exit velos of 90+ plus. Homered both on Sunday and Monday including a grand slam to LF to seal the championship for Ostingers 2020.
