Day One Scout Blog

Justin Allen C / 1B / Sickles, FL / 2023

6-foot 180 pounds. Stocky projectable frame. Athletic actions all around, strong wrist with quiet hands receiving behind the plate, above average arm strength. 2.15 pop time. Physical actions in the box, 88 mph exit velo, line drive to RF.

Ian Anderson LHP / OF / Lakeland Christian, FL / 2021

Anderson is long and lanky. Has a loose and clean arm action from the left side and a rhythmic delivery. There is potential for growth in the frame that should aid the velocity which sat in the mid 80s with the fastball. The pitchability stands out as he mixes pitches well and commands a serviceable breaking ball at 72-74 mph.

Justin Chung SS / 2B / Coral Springs Charter, FL / 2020

Uber athletic MIF, with quick twitch ability and strength throughout the frame. Moves well in the infield with a fast reaction time and soft feet that work well with the hands. Rhythmic load in the swing with the body control to get balanced and on time with frequency.

Josh Conn RHP / Key West , FL / 2020

Physically imposing, matured frame standing 6-foot-5, 203 pounds. Stout build and filled out well. Present strength and harnesses it in the mound. Moderate effort delivery with a short arm but gets through it. The arm talent is there as he was up to 87 mph and could creep upwards with more innings on the mound. The breaking ball was sharp and he could throw it for strikes or for a strikeout pitch as it sat in the mid 70s for a plus secondary pitch

Yariel Diaz C / 3B / Island Park, FL / 2019

Large and strong 5-foot-11, 225 pound frame. Big power bat in the middle of the SWFL lineup. Launched a grand slam and collected an RBI double to tally six total RBIs for the game.

Elijah Dukes 1B / OF / King, FL / 2022

FIU commit. Strong and athletic frame and moves well for his size. Balanced approach at the plate with plenty of pull side power and barrels the baseball consistently. Tripled to deep right field and had 2 RBI’s and scored 2 runs on the day.

Phillip Falcon III 1B / LHP / Jesuit , FL / 2023

Stout, advanced frame at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds. Projects to add athleticism and more strength to the frame as he matures but is beyond his years size wise. At the plate he displays a smooth, efficient bat path from the left side, taking the hands straight to the ball, and coils the core to create tension on a stiff front leg.

Anthony Fimiano C / 3B / St. Thomas Aquinas , FL / 2022

Strong and athletic frame and moves well defensively with average arm strength. Finds barrel at the plate with ease and drives the ball all over the field. Balanced and smooth swing at the plate and ended with 3 hits on the day.

Wyatt Fordham 3B / RHP / Plant City , FL / 2023

Strong and athletic frame as a two-way player and has a short arm action on the mound and commands the zone with all pitches low in the zone with the fastball sitting 79-82 and curveball with depth 64-66. Balanced and aggressive approach at the plate with 2 hits at the plate with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

Carter French OF / LHP / Jesuit, FL / 2022

Athletic two-way player. Twitchy left-handed hitter and pitcher. Has some steepness in the path, but feel for the barrel, present bat speed and loose handsy swing. Was 4-4 with 2 RBis offensively. On the mound, he shows some upside. Was up to 83 and struck out six in three innings of work.

Andres Gomez SS / C / Miami Jackson senior , FL / 2025

Athletic middle infielder showed advanced actions defensively. Left handed bat with a simple line drive approach. Quick hands at the plate.

Trent Hedgepeth C / OF / Braden River, FL / 2021

Tall body with a matured frame. Thick arms and legs with a strong center of gravity at 6-foot, 182 pounds. Handles the bat well at the plate, utilizing the forearms and wrists. Creates torque in the barrel getting negative movement in the hands before firing through with some nice barrel whip.

Andrew Jergins LHP / Berkley Prep, FL / 2022

6-foot-2 athletic frame. Twitchy actions. Deceptive delivery, quick, ¾ arm slot. Threw 1.1 innings in relief striking out 3 batters, allowing 0 baserunners. FB 86-88 showing slight run at times.

Tyler Macpherson RHP / OF / Newsome, FL / 2024

Struck out two and allowed only one hit in two innings of work. Athletic, with a simple and repeatable delivery and clean arm action. Worked mostly 77-79 mph and overmatched his competition. Has plenty of upside.

Justin Mayes 1B / LHP / Cleatwater Central Catholic , FL / 2023

Lanky but carries the weight well. Has present strength in the lower half and stays on line to the plate. Adds in a loose, long arm action that gets over the top with little resistance and decelerates well. Moderate to high effort delivery but is repeatable and keeps a consistent 3/4 arm slot. FB sat 81-83 with late ride. Curveball was short and tight coming in at 70-71 mph.

Evan Miller C / RHP / Osceola, FL / 2024

Tall, lank 6-foot-2, 160 pound frame. Right-handed pitcher works from the stretch only and comes from a high ¾ arm slot. Consistent strike thrower worked low in the zone with the fastball sitting 76-78. Plenty of room to fill out and add strength.

Colin Pellicer 3B / 1B / Durant, FL / 2024

The young 2024 had himself a game with two hits including a 3-run homer that game off the bat at 91 mph and carried 372 feet. Pellicer would finish the game with five RBI.

Peyton Petry RHP / OF / Cypress Creek, FL / 2021

6-foot-3 high waisted projectable frame. Working 6’6” extension down mound. Athletic up tempo, repeatable mechanics on the bump. Attacked hitters all game with downhill sinking fastball registering up to 2459 RPM, topping out at 90 mph. SL 70-72.

Alekxei Pino OF / 1B / Somerset Academy Charter, FL / 2020

Stocky frame and carries the weight well with balance in the lower half. Wide stance and calm load with a small trigger to keep the weight back. Keeps the hands tight and leads with the back hip. Bat path is level and finishes the swing as he squared balls up consistently.

Jalen Smith 1B / OF / Jesuit, FL / 2022

Built with a physical and thick frame, Smith possesses the athleticism to make him a special athlete. Coupling the strength in the frame and the quickness in the extremities he has the potential to become a scary hitter in the box. The hands stay above the ball and finishes balanced as he turns balls around in a hurry. If Smith stays on the diamond he should polish up defensively and could be a coveted prospect.

Alexander Sotiropoulos SS / RHP / Tampa Prep, FL / 2024

Long and lanky 6-foot-2, 170 pound frame. Clean mechanics with an up tempo delivery. Fastball sitting 75-78. Added strength as he fills out will result in a tick in velo.

Milo Suarez SS / 2B / Gulliver Schools, FL / 2022

Athletic and strong frame and moves well defensively with good footwork and average arm strength. Balanced and aggressive approach at the plate and finds the barrel. Had 3 hits on the day with 2 RBI’s.

Marlin Takovich OF / RHP / Key West, FL / 2023

6-foot-1 170 pounds. High waisted projectable frame. Controlled lower half working towards the plate with simple consistent mechanics. Arm works, showing projectable arm strength. FB 80-84, SL 71-73, CH 69-71.

Bryson Tiedeman RHP / OF / Cypress Bay, FL / 2022

Athletic and lean frame as a right-handed pitcher with loose and smooth arm action. Sitting 78-82 with the fastball and 65 with the curveball with depth. Commanded all pitches low in the zone for strikes and threw 3 innings with 4 strikeouts, 1 walk and gave up 1 run.

Chance Wheeler 2B / OF / Lake Gibson, FL / 2023

Athletic and strong frame with a balanced approach at the plate while driving the ball all over the field. Easy swing path and simple repeatable swing to help stay consistent at the plate.

Andrew Williamson OF / 1B / Northside Christian, FL / 2023

Athletic 5-foot-10, 160 pound outfielder. Quick hands at the plate and creates leverage to drive the ball gap-to-gap. Singled three times with an RBI.
