TFA Combines for a Shutout; Westminster & Georgia Premier Settle for a Draw

The Preseason Classic continued on Tuesday with a matchup between Westminster Christian and Georgia Premier Academy. Georgia Premier started Georgia commit southpaw Jarvis Evans. He would go five shutout innings with four strikeouts while running his fastball up to 89 mph.

Georgia Premier got the scoring started in the second with a fielder’s choice followed by a Jordan Thomas RBI single. Eric Guevara added to the scoring with a RBI single in the 3rd.

Down 4-0 in the bottom of the 7th, Westminster started their comeback. Allan Jorge and Willie Alvarez drove in RBI doubles and Christian Bosque would drive in the tying run on a sac fly.

The game would finish with a 4-4 tie. Georgia Premier will play again Wednesday afternoon against Miami Springs.

Game 2

Game 2 on Tuesday featured reigning state champions The First Academy vs Ethan Petry and Cypress Creek. Petry was on the mound this time and he looked good. Up to 93 mph with the fastball with a sharp slider. He allowed one run in four innings with seven strikeouts.

On the other side, Isaac Sewell started for TFA going two shutout innings with three strikeouts. DJ Brazelton came in next with three shutout innings, and Harrison Miller closed out the last two.

Offensively, Trent Kelly got the scoring going for TFA. Greg Pettay led the team with two hits. The First Academy would take this one 2-0 on Tuesday night. TFA will be back Thursday to take on Sandalwood.
