Boonville HS

Head Coach Art George and the Boonville High School Pioneers return only four starters and four pitchers from a Boonville squad that was 8-20 overall in 2012. The Pioneers struggled to a 0-6 mark in Big 8 Conference play. Boonville will be in rebuilding mode as the lineup will feature several sophomores looking to develop.

Leading the Pioneers this season will be seniors Jason Stevens (RHP) and Ethan Lenn (INF). Junior Justin Beard (INF/RHP) will also add experience to the Boonville lineup. A promising group of sophomores include Nate Pullum (RHP/OF), Nick Pullum (RHP/INF), and Jeff Sharp (C/RHP).

Griffith HS

The 2012 season for the Griffith Panthers ended with a regional loss to eventual Class 3A champion Western. Head Coach Brian Jennings guided Griffith to an 18-15 overall record and a 7-7 record in the Northwest Crossroads Conference. Expectations are high with seven starters and six pitchers returning in 2013.

Top returners for Coach Jennings include speedy centerfielder Brett Brinkley. Brinkley, a senior led the team with 24 stolen bases in 2012 while batting .280. Other returning starters from a seasoned group of starters include Austin Brown (3B), Matt Colomes (LF), Brandon Garcia (RF), and Jesse Smith (INF/P). Colomes is the top returning hitter with a .290 average last season, followed closely by Garcia at .280. Brown and Smith both hit .275 last season.

Junior catcher Kyle Buikema has outstanding defensive skills, but will need to develop at the plate to propel the Panthers forward through a tough regional in 2013 which includes Andrean and Western. Other players expected to contribute will be sophomore Brett Tauber (RHP) and freshmen Kody Hoese (SS) and Anthony Quintero (OF/P).
