Ryan Vargo

Ryan Vargo, a Class of 2013 prospect out of Clearview High School has been receiving attention from several colleges because of his projectable frame as a right-handed pitcher. Vargo stands 6'2, 170-pounds and has been working hard over the winter to add more weight.

Vargo said he started receiving attention from schools at the conclusion of his summer club¹s season. When asked what schools interested him most, he listed Miami, Dartmouth, Siena, Ohio U, and Akron as his top choices.

Throughout the fall and winter, Vargo told us that he had set goals to improve in all areas of his game and to become the number one pitcher for his Clearview and summer team, the North Coast Vipers. Currently Vargo’s fastball sits at 78-82; curveball sits 64-66; and change up sits 74-75.

Clearview, Vargo’s high school team, is coming off back-to-back conference championships and lost six seniors to graduation. He is expected to take a leadership role as one of the most experienced players on the roster.

As Vargo enters into his junior season, we asked him where he wants to see himself in a year from now. Vargo replied, “I would like to see myself with some early scholarship offers from a D1 college.”

Vargo recently attended the Silver Spikes clinic in Avon where he was able to showcase his skills in front over twenty various college coaches and professional scouts. He also earned an invitation to the Top Prospect Games in June.

We asked Vargo about his experience at the clinic. He replied, “I liked having the opportunity to play in front of scouts and coaches at different levels of the NCAA.  Also, I enjoyed the opportunity to be able to pitch and compete in front of a lot of other athletes from the local area and beyond.”
