With the fall signing period starting on November 14th, PBR Ohio will be taking a look at the number of players from Ohio headed to a college program within the state’s borders. Already, we broke down the in-state recruiting classes for the Division I programs located in Ohio. Now, we move on to the Division II level.

TIFFIN

New head coach Joe Wilkins is making a big splash with his 2013 in-state recruiting class.Vargo

The Dragon’s biggest commitment came in the form of Clearview right-handed pitcher Ryan Vargo. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed displayed a fastball consistently into the upper 80’s this summer and fall. With additional development of his off-speed pitches, he could be a big steal from Division I programs.

In addition to Vargo, Coach Wilkins added a couple more projectable right-handed pitchers. Kyle Montell, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect from Pickerington North High School, showcased a mid 80’s fastball along with above average off-speed pitches at the Top Prospect Showcase in July. Kyle Pluta, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound prospect from St. Ignatius, adds another projectable arm to the Dragons staff. He displays a mid 80’s fastball as well.

Lastly, Coach Wilkins secured the commit of Dublin Jerome’s Kyle Lento, a versatile prospect that could play in the middle infield or behind the plate. He adds some athleticism and speed to the Tiffin Roster.
