In June of 2016 Prep Baseball Report expanded into North Carolina.  This past year, PBR took another step toward complete territorial coverage of the country by adding South Carolina to its list of states with “boots on the ground”.  A rivalry in the making begins June 24th as North Carolina and South Carolina face off in the Border Battle at Winthrop University.

Each state has put together impressive rosters for college coaches and pro scouts to see as players will represent their area.  Each position player will go through a full workout, including defensive and offensive evaluations, followed by a controlled scrimmage.  Pitchers will face live hitters in the scrimmage sessions.  Along with game play, players from each state will be facing off to see who can top the leader board for top fastball, top exit velocity, top pop times, and more. 

This showcase will encompass more than just players working out for exposure… it is about State Pride!!!

Here are the corner infielders that will make up the PBR South Carolina roster. We will continue our player previews with Middle INF, C, and Two Way Players (Pitcher/Position) over the course of the next two days!

AJ Tolbert OF / 1B / Orangeburg Prep, SC / 2021 OF/Corner INF profile. Broad shoulders and strong lower half. Athletic enough to play either corner OF position or 1B. Muscles the barrel through the zone, will carry the gaps when he squares it up.

 

 

Carson Brown OF / Clover, SC / 2022 LHH OF with upside. Not a burner but runs well underway. Corner OF profile with lean strength throughout. Slightly lofted bat path with gap to gap power present.

 

 

Tynan McGonigle OF / RHP / Belton-Honea Path, SC / 2022 Slender profile with lengthy limbs. Compact LH swing with developing feel for the barrel. Low line drive, gap to gap approach. Runs underway.
