Team Summary
Coach Pat Watson and the Denton Guyer Wildcats look to build off a successful 2021 season and are primed for a deep run in '22. On the Mound, they look to have a deep staff with plenty of arms with swing and miss stuff. Sr. Braedyn Cunningham should be fully healthy after working his back from injury last year. the Imposing 6'5 Sr. has a FB that can get into the low 90's and a Swing and Miss Slider. Jr. Brad Pruett, pitched a lot of big innings last year and is looking to make another jump this  year. Has an  upper 80's Fastball and a good breaking ball. Guyer will need a big jump from Junior Cole Loser, who has the stuff to win any game.  Keep an eye out on 2024 Jack Hickerson, who Watson said was in the upper 80's this fall.
Guyer will need a jump at the plate if they plan on accomplishing their goals. It starts with 2023 Lane Allen. The UT Commit, has enormous raw power and has enormous upside.  Guyer will also look for veteran leadership in the lineup from guys like Duncan, Byrd, Parham and Rice. They have played a lot of baseball during their time at Guyer and provide Watson with some stability.  The wildcard is Jackson Arnold. The Jr. outfielder is better known as QB1 for the Wildcats, and holds offers from schools all over the country.  But he has some serious upside on the diamond as well, and could be a P5 hitter if football didn't workout.
All the ingredients are there for this Guyer bunch to make a deep run.  With a tough tournament schedule and playing in one of the toughest districts in the state they will be battle tested once playoff time rolls around.
