Texas Senior Game: Infield Analysis

On August 17, PBR Texas made a trip to Prestonwood Academy for the Senior Games. Last week we released the catcher and outfield analysis. Today we will take a look at all of the infielders that were in attendance.

2020 1B/LHP Collin Adams (Arlington Martin HS)
6-foot-1, 185-pounds with a powerful lower half. The left-handed hitter has a wide setup with a leg kick, barrel is quick through the zone producing hard line drives during BP. Showed 92 mph exit velocity off the tee. Ran a 7.18 60-yard dash. Fundamental actions at 1B, low arm slot yielding 79 mph across the diamond. From the mound has a short arm action and throws from a ¾ arm slot, fastball with slight cutting action worked at 78-80 mph, and showed slurve at 66-67 mph, and a CH at 75 mph.
2020 2B/RHP Brandon Blair (Plano West HS)
5-foot-10, 175-pounds, has a strong lower half. Has a late trigger to start swing, showed natural lift to pull side during BP. Had an exit velocity up to 91 mph from the tee. Showed fundamental actions defensively and threw from a low slot 77 mph across the field. On the mound Blair coils up his upper half and throws from a ¾ slot. His FB ranged from 77-81mph and also spun a slider at 73-74 mph.
2020 SS Caleb Clines (Magnolia HS)
5-foot-7, 155-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder. Showed natural infield actions, plays through the ball, fields it out front; above-average glove-to-hand abilities; average range; ran a 7.44 60. Offensively, hits out of an upright setup with significant leg kick; lacked separation at landing. 87-mph exit velocity off a tee.
2020 1B/3B Philip Crotts (Allen HS)
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Crotts has long limbs and visible strength in his actions. Ran a 7.18 60-yard dash, but has shown sub-7 times in the past. Right-handed swing has some length with some leverage in the swing, and was up to 92 mph off the tee. Fundamentally sound in his actions, and gets the ball across the field at 80 mph.
2020 3B CJ Difiglia (Plano West HS)
Howard JC recruit, 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, Difiglia sets up in the box athletically, had some lift in the swing producing hard line drives to pull side during BP. Had an exit velo of 86 off the tee. On the infield his hands and feet worked well together, throws were accurate coming in at 79 mph. Difiglia ran a 60-yard dash in 7.09
2020 3B Foster Engelhardt (Keller HS)
The 5-foot-11, 198-pound Engelhardt stands tall in the box, has some moving parts as he delivers the barrel but has easy pull side power with a natural lift in swing, up to 94 mph exit velocity off the tee. Fundamentally sound actions at 3B, making strong throws across the field at 81 mph.
2020 SS Luke Fricks (All Saints Episcopal)
The 5-foot-7, 150-pound Fricks is coiled in his setup and throws his body to the ball as he hit BP. Up to 89 mph exit velocity from the tee. Fielded the ball fundamentally sound, had a quick release and was up to 78 mph across the diamond. Fricks also ran a 7.32 60-yard dash.
2020 3B/C Grant Pfaff (Santa Fe HS)
5-foot-9, 162-pounds, and hits from both sides of the plate. From the left side has a wide setup and stayed on the ball to left field well. As a righty, had a similar setup and dove to the ball away. Up to 89 mph exit velocity off the tee. From behind the plate his feet work well, stays on line with 2B with 75 mph throws and with a 2.20 pop time. Quick actions at 3B, low slot on the throw, 79 mph across the diamond. Also ran a 7.31 60-yard dash,
2020 2B Blake Harmon (Marcus HS)
5-foot-9, 165-pounds, ran 7.29 60-yard dash. Right-handed swing with high leg kick, low hands, good extension from contact. Up to 86 mph exit velocity off the tee. Sound actions in the field, fielded ball out in front of body, quick transition. Short arm path and 79 mph across the field.
2020 SS Brooks Howson (Benbrook HS)
6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Howson stands tall in the box, has a late trigger to start the swing, sprayed balls in BP from the right side. Had an 85 mph exit velocity off the tee. Moved around athletically in the field, handled the slow roller well. Was. 79 mph across the infield and also ran a 7.48 60-yard dash
2020 3B/1B Tyler Justice (Lexington HS)
Physical 6-foot-2, 225-pounds, Justice attacks the ball with his body, hit balls hard to pull side during BP, Up to 98 mph off the tee for exit velocity testing. In the field his Justice’s hand work around the ball and threw 77 mph across the diamond. Ran a 7.58 60-yard dash,
2020 1B Cole Kracmer (South Grand Prairie HS)
Paris JC recruit. 6-foot-3, 200-pound left-handed hitting first baseman with sturdy, proportional strength. Bat is his carrying tool, showing balanced approach,feel for the barrel, flat through the zone with natural loft; up to 94 exit velocity. Had an accurate arm and was 78 mph across the diamond. Ran a 7.99 60-yard dash.
2020 2B/OF Jackson Lentz (Richland HS)
6-foot, 165-pound frame. He ran a 7.10 60-yard dash, showed consistency in his swing with a very upright posture, and flat barrel through the zone. Launched a no doubt home run during the game; 86 mph exit velocity off the tee. Lentz fields the ball cleanly out in front of his body in the infield, 73 mph across the diamond. In the OF threw with a short arm action and was 79 mph on the throw in.
2020 2B/SS Jalon Mack (Jesuit Prep)
6-foot, 182-pound frame, Mack ran a 7.10 60-yard dash and had strong showing during BP from both sides of the plate. Very simple set up in both swings, barrel is in the zone a long time, some juice to pull side. Up to 90 mph exit velocity off the tee. Athletic actions in the field, moves well side to side, easy transfer with glove, and whippy lower arm slot up to 78 across the diamond. Mack has the athletic ability and natural feel to be a nice late addition to a college.
2020 3B Ian Mason (Euless Trinity HS)
Stout 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame with broad shoulders, He produces easy bat speed from the right side, has a lot of moving parts in the swing but shows natural pull side power. Was up to 88 mph exit velocity. Fundamental actions at 3B, quick release, 84 mph across the field. Mason ran a 7.68 60-yard dash.
2020 1B/RHP Caden Norman (Smithson Valley)
Lanky 6-foot-5, 190-pound frame, with a ton of room to fill out. Some length in the swing with natural pull side power; up to 86 mph exit velocity. Norman ran an 8.34 60-yard dash. Was accurate with his throws at 78 mph. On the mound, releases from the high ¾ slot with good ride on 82-84 mph fastball. Showed a 63-64 mph curveball and also threw a 69-72 mph slider with side to side action.
2020 SS Tino Ramirez (Jesuit Prep)
Ramirez has an athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound body, clocking 7.13 60-yard dash. Spins on his backside some, uphill some through the zone. Exit velocity was 85 mph off the tee. Quick footwork at SS, easy transition into throw. 76 mph across the field.
2020 1B Hunter Reid (Plano Senior HS)
Texas A&M-Texarkana recruit, 6-foot-3, 221-pound Reid has a simple setup at the plate. Attacks the ball, also has some natural lift producing hard hit balls to his pull side; was up to 100 mph exit velocity form the tee.Reid was fundamentally sound in the field, up to 85 mph across the diamond. Ran a 7.67 60-yard dash.
2020 SS Jason Schneider (McNeil HS)
5-foot-11, 170-pound frame, Schneider ran a 7.00 60-yard dash. During BP had a balanced stance, spun on backside some during swing. Was up to 86 mph exit velocity off the tee. Schneider’s hands and feet work together in the field, handled the slow roller well, threw the ball at 78 mph across the diamond.
2020 SS Garrett Williams (South Grand Prairie HS)
Midland College recruit, Athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pounds, Williams had rhythm in his hands as he loaded, had natural feel for the barrel during BP; was up to 87 mph off the tee for exit velocity. Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. In the field moved to the ball athletically and was 84 mph across the diamond.
